Rebooking while on board

Hello all, I have a question maybe somebody can answer or help with.

I was able to book the cruise to Hawaii a couple of days ago. This sailing has been sold out since day and I was able to book by checking regularly.

We will be sailing on the Wonder in a couple of weeks. Is it possible to re shop and re book this cruise while on board. If so, would we still get the 10 precent off for booking on board? In order to re shop, does this reservation have to be released and re booked? If so, I am sure we would lose this confirmed reservation. Or can Disney rebook this without having to release it first?

I guess I will find out in a couple of weeks, but if anybody has done this before, any info is appreciate it?

Thanks,

Gabe

You can't rebook the identical reservation onboard. You can book a new reservation and then cancel the previous reservation. However, I would assume that you could book a placeholder and then as soon as you get back on land rebook the same reservation on the phone with an agent without releasing it first.

They will treat your request as a new booking. They do not convert existing reservations. If your cruise is fully booked, you would run a risk of losing your room if you cancel the existing reservation to rebook it. I do not know how it takes for the room to become available again after a cancellation. When people reshop onboard, they usually end up with two different reservations for a little while, before cancelling the first one.

As others have said, the onboard booking has to be a new reservation - they don't just discount a reservation you are already holding. So you can try when you are onboard to see if another place has opened up. (Cancelling your existing reservation does not guarantee it would make availability on the cruise so I would not cancel until I was sure I had a new booking.) If that doesn't work, you might want to try booking a placeholder; there may be a point where something does open up and you can call DCL to move your placeholder to the Hawaii cruise. Not sure how this works since DCL changed the rules and won't let you hold two reservations for the same cruise (but sure it could be done with some name juggling). But if you apply the placeholder down the road, it is on the current price when you convert the placeholder to a booking, not the price the day the placeholder booking was made - so even as pricy as the Hawaii cruise is, price may go up.
