Rebooking rules?

I am a new dvc member--in fact, I am still waiting to get into the system and just had my closing. So, I want to call and book right away. I would like to book my home resort at 11 months, but I really want a different resort. If I book my home at 11 months and call in at 7 months for the other resort, can I change my reservation to that resort and will there be any penalties to do so? I would be willing to stay at my home resort if the other is not available.

Many members do that, no fee.

I would advise you to do that. This way you are sure to have a place to stay, then at 7 months you try to get your first choice. You wouldn't believe how many changes I had to make with my upcoming trip, it's hard to keep track of where all 14 people are staying!

Most DVC members, who have the ability to book that far in advance, do secure reservations at their home resorts.

At 7 months, you can call and see what is available. If what you want is, they will modify your reservation to include the new resort.
