Reasons to take advantage of MM

Ok, I've been coaching my brother and his wife, who are taking their DD5 to DL for the first time next week, with 4 day park-hopper passes. I was on the phone with my dear sister-in-law (who is a sweet person and a really good friend as well), and she said, "Well, a friend of mine said that this time of year isn't that busy so it doesn't really make any difference; you don't need to use your one magic morning because it's not that busy."

I nearly swallowed my tongue and then told her gently that from all I'd read here over and over, and my own experience with our magic mornings, it is really a great advantage to use your magic morning if it's available. I'm trying to think of some coherent reasons to give her, without sounding like a Disney commando, i.e. "You MUST do it this way." I don't want to scare her, either.

Anyone think of a way to put it succinctly? The super thread doesn't really hit it, just the logistics of how it all works.

Thanks! :worship:

I agree with you. Even if it's not a busy time, you always want to use it if you can! It just means that you'll get to ride even MORE rides, if it's not busy, during the MM.

Even when it's not buy rides like Peter Pan and Space Mountain can get a fairly good line going after opening. Then there is always Nemo, which I think MM is a perfect time to ride it (if you are okay with using it for Nemo, we did last year). It's good to get those done early, and if you have a MM even better. It's a nice feeling knowing you got on those rides and then can go on things like Pirates, without worrying about lines!

We have only been, so far, in TRUE un-busy times. Not spring-turning-to-summer getting-busier times like next week.

And even in mid-September, early December, early-October, and late January, the line for Peter Pan will grow exponentially each minute it takes you to get there.

If they are not going to use MM, make sure they do not go to Fantasyland that morning. Day. At all. If they are not going to use MM, make sure they do not THINK of going to Nemo that morning.

Unless they like lines? Do they like lines? And if they do, have their consulted their daughter on that? :lmao:

Maybe on the MM-offered days they should just start their day over at DCA, have tons of fun there and get a nice sleep. Then on the non-MM days, get up bright and early so they are one of the first in, and therefore only have 10 minutes of wait in the peter pan queue (and the rest of the FL lines) vs a 40 minute wait...

Lines, lines, lines. Even during "off season" the Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Alice in Wonderland, even Nemo lines can be nasty. However during MM all three are at most 5 min long lines, except Nemo.

On our November trip we got in at 7am on our EE day on a Saturday.
We rode 8 rides by 8am!

Sooooo worth doing EE!

Yes on your MM days, be sure to do the fantasyland rides, those lines can get long as the day goes on, especially for peter pan...that line always seems to be a killer!

I can think of three reasons:

1) Because it's fun for DD5
2) Because it's fun for DD5
3) Because it's fun for DD5 :earsboy:

It's also a great time of day to be in DL -- the lighting for photos is really great. You can take nicer pictures with fewer guests in the background. It's also very nice to walk into DL first thing, when it's brand-spankin' clean. IMO it's a great way to visit Fantasyland and it's a wonderful way to see DL!

Sometimes begging and groveling works! ;) :earsboy:

HTH! :earsboy:

Another reason to take advantage of MM ...

It can help turn a really good morning into a really great morning. Toward the end of the MM hour -- as the regular opening time approaches -- they can go to the entrance to Adventureland. They will be able to practically walk on to Indy, BTMRR, Splash, or any ride they want, while most visitors will still be in the lines at the DL entrance.

At a minimum, they can use the MM to enter DL a few minutes before the regular opening time. This would save them at least 30 minutes of waiting.

HTH :earsboy:

It can be like having your own private amusement park. We rode about 12-15 rides at MM 2 weeks ago. The park was pretty deserted. We got to stay on the Matterhorn without getting off. That totally made it worth it to my family even if we were there at 7am.

We'll have 2 opportunities to use MM - and believe me, we'll be using both of them! :thumbsup2 This will be our first time visiting DL, so anything that will help us save time will be utilised to the fullest! Apart from less waiting in lines for the popular rides, it will also mean we'll have more time to explore everything else in the parks! :cool1:

Just an FYI - we were at DL last week, staying at the Grand Californian. I took advantage of early entry on the designated day and almost didn't get in. Turns out a room key is not good enough proof you are staying on site (people keep the cards and try and use them later) and my 3-day park hopper ticket wasn't good enough either. They asked me for a charge slip to prove I was staying onsite. I didn't have anything with me and they finally let me in only after I told them my room number. I'm sure everyone behind me really appreciated me holding things up. Be prepared.

Did you figure out what they needed? I'm sure you did, but for anyone else staying on-site, the charge slip that is required is the smallish, flimsy, white slip of paper that is required to get in for any MM not covered by your hopper, and to charge things to your room.

Boy, that happened to us, too. I knew we had the charge slip on us somewhere, but we were first in line at the turnstiles and starting to panic, me and DH both taking out our wallets and starting to search frantically... but I showed her my room key, and happily she sort of sighed patiently and waved us through, rather than hold up the line. Whew!

Oh yeah, we've always had to have that little thin charge slip in order to get in to EE. I guess I understand it, if people could just use the room keys later on. I'm really surprised they let you in without it, they seemed pretty strict about that.

After church today, my SIL came up to me and said, "Ok, ok, we're going to do Magic Morning. Are you happy now?" :lmao:

Thanks for all your excellent suggestions! I emailed the gist of your replies to them, and they saw the light! :thumbsup2 They're going Wednesday through Sunday. Wish I was going with them! :goodvibes

And to add to that, it is THE time to get GREAT photos of the family without a bazillion (is that a word?) other people in your pictures.
