reasons for staying home from school?

dh and I were having a "discussion" last night about ds staying home from school today.

**gross part coming up**




ds had a really bad blister on the underside of his foot and he made it a lot worse. Bloody and gory, I called the doc he said to clean it out and then keep it bandaged.

anyway, he is in some pain now but is having a hard time walking. He cant wear his sandals so he would have to wear socks and shoes with the bandageand its going to be 90 degrees today.

DS has a big homework assigment due today so I was hesitant to keep him home.

Anyway, he's home. I said I would take in his homework, so that at least it was in on time he only has 3 more days of school left. I dont know I just feel like this is one of those borderline reasons to stay home.

So what guidelines do you use to keep your kids home?

Your child is still in school? Do you go year round or is this a summer school?


I would keep my kid home if he would have trouble walking with that blister on his foot.

I have kept my kids home only when they are sick...I won't go into details, but if one of my kids had a blister, probably stay home.

UGH well he just got up and said " I want to go to school!" so of course he had 10 minutes to get to the bus.

Oh well, he changed his mind and now hes going. Said it still hurts but he will be ok.


yes he is year round. He is out on the 2nd then goes back by the 29th of July I think it is?

Well I guess he feeling well enough to go.

I keep son home if he has a fever. He hardly ever gets sick so it's not an issue here. If he had a blister that caused him pain when he walked I'd keep him home.

DS's last day of school was yesterday.

If it was my dd in grade school I would keep her home. If it was older dd (12yo) that is in middle school she would have to go. They just do too much and catching up is very hard. I would probably bandage her up good and send a note for gym.
