My parents were planning a week-long trip through Florida for this week, starting on last Friday, but a certain weather event prompted them to cancel all their plans because at the time we weren't fully sure what was going down.

Now they're planning a new trip in December, most likely 12/2 through 12/10, which their Disney days falling somewhere between 12/5 and 12/8.

We're a fairly frugal family, and we've always stayed at Value Resorts since they've been available, but it's looking like value resorts are all booked up early in the second week of December. Any tips to securing a room? Should I call directly to see if they can help or should I check in every few hours on the website? What's the General game plan for securing a room at a resort that's seemingly booked solid?

I would normally suggest Orbitz, but they appear to be sold out as well. I would just keep checking or even consider a Disney Springs or offsite resort.

Those Disney dates are during Pop Warner, which is probably why the values are booked. We have never visited during Pop Warner but I'm sure others on these boards can tell you more.

Can they swing a moderate resort or suggest you check to see if little mermaid rooms at AofA available. Or maybe Disney Springs is a good option.

Ah, the dreaded Pop Warner. Guess I'll try to get them to move their trip up to the week before Thanksgiving.
