Reasonable but nice hotel for 1/2 nights?

Hi there

I'm thinking of booking a short break for 1-2 nights... my friend is going through a very rough time at the moment and I think a bit of Disney magic might do her some good.

As it'll be my treat, I would like to find a hotel that is nice / decent, but also quite reasonable.

Would be happy to stay on or off site, although on-site would be a bonus of course!!!

Hoping to travel on Eurostar...

We live in Surrey so getting to London for the train is easy for us!

it really depends when you want to go, as that will affect the price? i'd say if you go in march when there is a 3 nights for 2 offer on (or if you are just going for 1 or 2 nights, it is low season) you will get a good price - I've found the 4 star hotel new york is £440 for 2 adults inc breakfast and park passes for 4 days 3 nights, so i might get this for my mum's bday

If you are just looking for a nice bed, breakfast and a place to shower, the hotel santa fe and cheyenne are both cheap and mostly consistent, with the cheyenne generally seen as the better value for money.

For slightly more money, the 3 star Sequoia Lodge has a pool, and surely the nicest bar in the resort, and i think the rooms are slightly bigger too. check out photos of the hotels on photomagiques.com, but if i were you, i would stay in the resort for a short trip to get the most out of it

and what a thoughtful thing to do for your friend, i hope this trip perks them up

If you want to go for only one or 2 nights, you might find it cheaper doing the hotel and park tickets separately. Expedia do all the Disney onsite hotels at room only rate (the Santa Fe and Cheyenne are the more basic, but they are both very comfortable and clean) and then look at the likes of attractiontix for park tickets.

disneydirect - www.disneylandparis.co.uk, click on 'book package', that was arriving the 9th March, you can have a play about with the hotels and dates, but it does tell you on the site the days that they are doing 3nights for the price of 2 etc ^_^

We recently stayed in the Etap Hotel which is a short (less than 5 minute ) journey to the parks for 55€ per night per room. If you did this and bought passes it would make a cheap deal

Disneyangel - how was the Etap Hotel, how far was it from the RER station, does the description and photos on it's site reflect reality? Sorry if I'm asking something already answered, but I'm dying with the cold and just can't be bothered doing a search at the moment

We found the rooms basic but clean and ideal if you are really only going to sleep in them. which is what most people will do at DLRP.

As you enter the room as you do by keying in a code (no key at all ) you have a toilet to your left(enclosed in a little room which has walls like you have in a steam room ) and little sink with mirror above then a shower (which was pretty good not a power shower but reasonably strong flow).

The main room has a double bed facing out with a bunk along the wall above. Then there is a little hanging rail and a little desk and chair with a tiny shelf with a little TV on it. (only english channel was a news one (BBC world)but my DD (5) was happy to watch the French Disney channel). There's not many power points that I recall which I'd imagine would be a downside for hairdryers etc. There is also a window with a pull down blind.

I'll try upload some piccies I took tomorrow to let you see.

The lobby has a couple of vending machines (one for hot drinks (only 1€ each )and the other for snacks and there is also a phone. You can buy breakfast for an additional 5E per person and it's served in a small cafe area at the front of the hotel which looked very pleasant. I think the website says it's a buffet but in the hotel it was advsertised as a tray with given contents (ie bread , jam, cheese , cereal -I think ) and a hot drink.

You can actually see the hotel from the RER platform it is so close . Although you need to wak to the opposite side to buy tickets as the ticket machine at the RER entrance nearest the hotel does not sell the tickets you need to get to Marne La Vallee. But thats no big deal as it's only an extra few minutes walk. . It cost us 3.90€ for two adults and a child for each journey.

You are very close to the shopping centre so can use the Auchan to buy snacks etc

I would recommend it as a good budget alternative and getting the train is definitely less hassle than some of the pink buses

Thanks for your review there Disneyangel, while I am thinking I will stick to the MY Travel Explorers for our Halloween trip as it's 6 nights, but I have just found we could stay at Etap for 3 nights at the end of June for £130!!!

It is so tempting to sneak in a short break between Easter and Halloween, particularly as I've always wanted to visit the shopping centre anyway, and if we used air miles for the flights, then it would make it a really cheap Disney break. Perhaps I can add to my Air Miles then in time for the October break too!?

Is it the same train you get from CDG, or can you get a direct train from GDG to the Val D'Europe, then take the train to DLP from there?

That doesn't seem right, as we have taken the train from Lille to DLP before now, and it doesn't stop between CDG and DLP that I recall.

Unless there are slower trains between CDG and DLP that do stop?

Someone round here must have travelled from CDG to Val D'Europe, surely?

Oh yes, I forgot there is a different train, called the RER! We've never used that one, how does it compare to the TGV? Is it complicated?

Val d'Europe is only one stop away from the parks so very easy to catch the train (RER) to and from.

However it doesn't go directly from CDG to the parks ~ to go direct to DLRP from CDG you need to catch either the TGV or the VEA bus and then get the RER to Val d'Europe.

If you were to catch the RER from CDG to Val d'Europe then you would need to change in Paris at Chatelet les Halles but wouldn't need to go via the parks, as Val d'Europe is the stop before DLRP coming from Paris.

Discounting a private shuttle, which would be the easiest but most expensive way, it doesn't really make much difference which way you do the journey, it's going to involve two modes of transport each time.

Explorers is great - 5 minute shuttle off-site but the shuttles are very frequent and it is the first to drop people off/pick people up

vienna dreams castle was great too. although this might be a little bit more expensive.
