Is the basket that comes with the REAS package the same one in the Gifts brochure that comes with your documents?

I purchased the REAS package on our 6/25 cruise and the romance basket was in our cabin on the first day. I never opened anything that came with the basket until I got home . . . and guess what! The "box of chocolates" was a box of 10 LIFESAVER CREAMSAVERS CANDIES!!

I feel ripped off. I also feel really stupid for not opening this the day I got it. The description in the gifts brochure says it is supposed to include a box of chocolates, and I got Lifesavers. Has this happened to anybody else? The REAS package wasn't cheap and I didn't get what I paid for. Suggestions anybody?

I would call DCL or write them and make a complaint.

In September I will open my box of "chocolates" and see if it is chocolate or lifesavers.

The REAS chocolates come in a red/black (faux marble print) heart-shaped box that measures approx. 5"X6"X 1" high....The chocolates are a little chalky...not real high quality to my buds.... The basket is rectangular and made of bent wire.

I didn't care much for the chocolate that was in the basket (and I love candy) I think the creme savers may have been a better option ;)

But seriously if you are unhappy with what was there you should contact DCL about it.

SueEllen - I never talked to DCL when I purchased the REAS package; someone at DU took care of everything. Should I still try to get in touch with DCL directly? What do you suggest; thanks.

The fact that you made your reservations through DU has no bearing on the product. DCL is solely responsible for delivery and the correctness of the product, so you should contact them directly.

When you write to them, or call them, as hard as it may be to do, don't let emotion get involved. Tell them what you expected, what you received, and if possible, give them some kind of idea of what you expect in return for the mistake (obviously, a new cruise is out of the question ;) ).

Hope this helps.

The chocolate in the basket was the worst chocolate I have ever tasted! You did better with the creme savers. :bitelip:

Email me at Dreams and give me your information. I'll get in contact with someone for you.

I thought the same thing, and I am a huge choc-o-holic....
I didn't even finish my first piece of candy. And threw the rest out.

Ditto! I took one bite and spat it out - pitched the rest in the wastebasket.

Maybe that's why they substituted the other candy!

Update - DCL is refunding $12. They substituted the Creamsavers prior to shipping the baskets to the West Coast, and missed some when the swapped them back for chocolate. There were boxes of chocolate at guest services on the ship for people who complained; but since I never opened it on the ship I never realized it.

I wonder why it wasn't mentioned in the letter that confimed the other package inclusions. It was personalized and had spa appointment times and Palo reservation time. This easily could have been a paragraph in this letter.

Moral of the story - Check the stuff they deliver to your room BEFORE you leave the ship!!!

Slightly OT, but my mom, sister, and I had a girl's weekend in Phoenix for my mom's birthday and stayed on the concierge level of a VERY nice hotel on a special package deal that was supposed to include Godiva chocolates at turn-down each night. Well, we got the standard stock-squares of chocolate in both rooms each night and it became an inside joke even when the concierge tried to straighten out the problem. We had a great time and the concierge level was awesome, but when the guest services rep asked at check-out how everything was, I explained the issue with the chocolates - and made it clear I wasn't upset, just wanted them to know that one thing was advertised, and another was delivered. She asked for a few minutes to "work out some details" and came back with a revised bill with our last night comped for both rooms, a discount for the other nights, and a total credit of over $1200! All because of chocolates.......!!!!! You definitely catch more flies with honey!

I do believe Pixie dust can be found anywhere.

I thought of this thread while on board last week. We too got the dreaded life savers. :(

We called guest services to ask about the chocolate and they said they would get back to us. They eventually left us a message saying the romance package came with life savers this week (yeah, we know!) and that was it.

Part of me wanted to push the issue because of the principle of it, but at that point I really didnt need any more food, and the aggravation wasnt worth it. It does sort of bug me though. I left a comment on the comment card saying I didnt feel 10 lifesavers were a valid replacement for a box of chocolates...not the same romance or monetary value. ;)

I got lifesavers too, I must admit it wasn't the anniversery present I was expecting for my husband when I booked the package, but I didn't say anything on board because i couldn't remember if the description had said Candy or Chocolate in the UK these would have been more or less the same, so I thought it might be a language problem do you think it's too late to say anything?

I got the lifesavers on my July cruise as well. What a rip-off, they didn't even fill the box!!! I just didnt care enough to complain. the basket is nice, as is the picture frame/photo album. Most importantly, the champagne was as advertised! now that reservations can be made on-line, the REAS package really isn't worth it, IMHO. :flower:

:earboy2: "My mom always said that lifes like a box of chocolates....you never know what your gonna get." :confused3 I think I am hungry for a Mickey bar. :mickeybar
