REAS package -- still good option?

Is the REAS package still a good option at the new price for 2005 ($339). We were considering it as a way to alleviate the check-in day runaround and book Palo and spa reservations in advance. Does anyone have the 2005 spa prices so that I can compare? DH and I were planning to get massages anyway, so that will cover the cost of that.

Thanks for any input.

IMHO it's getting a bit pricey. I'm so VERY glad we did it our first cruise (and amazingly enough, the best part was the rose petals because my DH just loved it! His attitude completely surprised me!) because I didn't have to worry about finding the ressie places, etc. And I wish I could JUST get the rose petals again - but we won't do REAS again. The gift was no big deal (to me - it's just not something I'll use, and I'm not big on candy, and we're not big drinkers...), so I would only be looking at the cost of the massages and the convenience of the Palos reservations.

I haven't spent too much time online and was wondering what this "IMHO" means. I'm sure it is something simple and will kick myself when I see the translation!:p

I know, "LOL", "BTW", and some others, but haven't figured out IMHO or HTH!

Someone clue me in please!

PS- Which hotel is OKW too?

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

OKW = Old Key West

Love you guys! And yes, I am kicking myself right now!!;)

Thanks, as always, for imparting your wealth of information!

We did the REAS package on our Aug 28th cruise. For this calendar year, the cost was $299. and it was definitely worth it to be able to pre-book the spa and Palo, and also because Debbie allows you to make a dining rotation request (we got our request) :)

We are cruising DCL again in 2006. Not sure how much REAS will be by then, or if they will still allow you to make a rotation request. Probably about 6 months before our cruise I will re-evaluate the REAS package to see if we'll book it again or not.

As for the prices of the spa treatments, I know they went up a few months ago. I know it is listed on DCL's website. Here's a link right to that page: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...itygroupingindex?id=AdultsActivitiesActGrping
When you get to that page, look for the link in the first paragraph to the "spa therapies". It's a pop-up window so I can't post a direct link to it. I know that if you were to book the couples' massage on its' own, it would cost $242. So you can decide if the rest of the amenities of the REAS package would be worth the extra $97.

We went ahead and booked the Reas package for our cruise in November. After reading in the passporter about it and listening to the good advice of people on these boards I made the decision to go ahead and book. To be honest, it was mostly so I could go ahead and plan for Palos. I didn't want to have to spend any of my first few hours on the ship waiting in any lineups that I could avoid. I am not a big spa person but I thought DH might really love a massage. We will see on that one. I have requested that we have sparkling cider in our basket as I do not like champagne (I think there still a bottle of it in our refridge from New Years unopened of course). Then the boys can have some as well with us the morning of breakfast in bed. I don't know how long it will be until we cruise again on Disney so for me it was the right decision. Of course we paid $299 - I am not sure that I would have done at the additional cost.

Great idea about requesting the sparkling cider! I'm not a big drinker and am not crazy about champagne, but I could drink the whole bottle of sparkling cider all by myself... (which I once did the week after giving birth to my daughter!);)

on our 8-29 wonder cruise. I'm sure I would not do it again, although I agree the best part was the rose petals, but who could think of romance after totally pigging out at Palo's ......it was all I could do not to puke.........ok, probably more info than was needed.
Anyway, the package was nice, but not one person I knew that tried for Palo's reservations once onboard failed........plus, I did not like my massage.......hubby loved his but I just could not relax enough to really let go..........it hurt!! The woman I had dug her elbows into my back !! OUCH!! Nothing like I expected it to be......left feeling more stressed than when I started! I did like being able to request my rotation and I did get what I asked for so that was a plus but overall, will not do it again..........I may buy some rose petals though......

*ouch* Michelle! I would not have liked anyone's elbows in my back. The girl that I had was very gentle, but used just enough pressure. I don't like pain either, especially during something that is supposed to be relaxing. I think everyone has their own idea of what a massage is supposed to be, because I heard some people say that their masseusse wasn't applying enough pressure. lol Did you say anything to her? She probably didn't realize she was hurting you.

I go for massages about every two months at home. I am someone who gets them to loosen up and relax my muscles so I like a lot of pressure. Some people like very little pressure. Once in awhile my massage therapist will be a little to hard and I'll flinch. She immediately notices and lightens up the pressure. A massage should feel good. If it hurts you need to tell the therapist so they know.
