another newbie here with some questions- I was thinking of adding this on as a surprise for dh. since we only have one day out at sea I figured this would be a good day to the massages and possibly Palo's. we have the late seating and my kids will be 3 and 5. I would let them stay at the oceaneer's club while we eat and are at the spa. Im just unclear about what dining assignment I should pick, so we do not miss anything. we could always do a early dinner@ palo's and than pick the kids up for our late seating but at the same time what shows are a not miss? Im so confused. any help would be much appreciated. tia

your night at sea is your last night which is in the same restaurant you had on your first night ... it's also the night of the "Master Chef's" menu (or whatever it's called). IMHO opinion you won't miss much by skipping dinner in the main dining room that night. :)

As for the shows, you're destined to miss the show. And all of the shows are great, so it's impossible for me to tell you which one to miss. :(

We're doing the REAS on our 4 night (we sail 6 weeks from today!! Whoo Hoo!! but I digress....) and I'm planning our day at seas as follows: champagne breakfast in bed, 5:45pm couples message at the spa, 9:00pm Palo reservation. Our 14 year old DD will be "on her own" for dinner that night, and will probably be in the teen club at their going away party until well after midnight....

okay I was thinking doing it that way but.. we are celebrating dd's 5th bday that night at dinner since we dock the next day. :(
so I was thinking of maybe skipping the titan's meal and doing palo's the night before ( if I can get it that way) than do the breakfast in bed and our massages at some point during the day. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how they put us. the not knowing is driving me crazy and I want to make sure we dont miss out on anything

thanks for your reply and have a wonderful cruise.

I think I understand your question. Why don't you consider the Palo Brunch instead of the dinner on your At Sea day (the only day it's offered on the 4 night cruise)? The kids can still go in the Club while you eat and get massages, then later you can still have a birthday celebration at dinner. In some ways I like the Brunch better than the dinner because it's daylight and the views outside the restaraunt are spectacular! Also dress is more casual and the food and mimosas are terriffic! (Only problem is no chocolate souflee at brunch :( ).

A word of advice if you stay with the late seating: unless you are late risers try to get your kids to rest/nap for a while during the day, preferably late afternoon if you want them to stay up late. Our twins are 7 this month (we sailed in 4 weeks ago) and usually stay up late at home no problem. But on the ship they were up at dawn each day, going all day long and way too excited to rest/nap even though we tried. Dinner was frustrating. They were antsy in their seats because they were tired and their behavior was not the best. DS fell asleep in his chair on CC night. Many other parents around us shared the same problem, even with kids older than ours. We've had early dinner before and that's what we booked for our 2006 cruise. I posted a thread about this and it seemed like if you're late risers or live on the West Coast it wasn't a problem, some people love it.

Lastly, if I had to miss any show it would be Hercules. Disney Dreams is not to be missed and my family loved Golden Mickeys too. There's so much to do onboard you won't be able to do it all, so don't even try, you'll be exhausted. You'll just have to rebook like the rest of us DCL addicts. :teeth: So remember to relax and enjoy yourself knowing if you don't get to it this time you will next time or the time after that.

Enjoy! :boat:

With the REAS package you cannot book the Palo brunch instead of the dinner as part of the package ... your idea of doing Palo the night before (night 3) might work out well ... just make sure you don't miss your night in Animator's Palette (or if you get it twice, don't miss the FIRST night). :)

Didn't know, have never done the REAS package. Is part of the package just the ability to book advance Palo reservations? On our recent cruise it was noted by one of our fellow Dis-ers that nobody they met didn't get what they were looking to book at Palo - even without having the REAS package. In fact many booked both the brunch AND the dinner. So maybe even though the OP can't book the brunch ahead of time, she could still consider it as an option for her At Sea day in order to accomplish what she wants.

DW and I are doing the 4 day Wonder and I booked REAS as a surprise for our Anniversary. Based on recommendations here and elsewhere, I requested (though not guaranteed) the LAPL rotation. This will put us in Lumiere's on the first night, which is our actual anniversary. We are then doing our breakfast in bed, massages and Palo's on our Sea Day. Also keep in mind that the Palo's day will be your Romantic Turndown day.

My thought process was that I wanted to see all three restaurants on their menu night, I wanted to dress nicely on the first night, and I wanted our sea day to be extra special and relaxing.

Hope this helps!

On the 4 day you cannot prebook the Brunch, but on the 7 day if you have the REAS package then Debbie (at DCL) can prebook the brunch for you in addition to your dinner at Palo.

The $10 per person charge for the Palo dinner is included in the REAS package.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I booked it for the whole package, not just the ability to prebook Palo before boarding. We'll have to get in line for Palo after boarding any way, since we want to do Palo brunch on our day at sea. :teeth: So REAS isn't saving me from standing in line (although it saves me from standing in line at the spa for the massage appointment).
