Sorry if this is the wrong board...mods, please feel free to move it if it is. I was gonna post on "community" but that board is not always "Disney" realted and I want to keep this DISNEY! :thumbsup2

I just got a new car, and I am soooo happy. I drove my Honda for 10 years and I really was ready for something new. Of course, now I am sweating the car payments :sad2: DH said we will have no problem, just cut back on our upcoming WDW trip. I said "EXCUSE MEEE? I don't think so buddy!" :furious:

Anyhoo....I want something DISNEY for my rearview mirror...something pretty and elegant and understated. I am bummed cuz there is no license plate holder for the front of the car, so I gotta get my "DIS display" on the car somehow! Any suggestions?

Welcome to the community board! :cheer2:
I am not sure what you are looking for. Are you looking for something to hang on the rear view mirror?

LOL! So I guess it DID get moved! I just wanted to make sure I was clear that i want something DISNEY for my rearview mirror. I only come to the Community board when I post something off topic. I have been here before, thanks for the welcome, angel!

I guess I am just bubbling with excitement over my new car and I want to "disnify" it ASAP. I want something pretty and WDW related to hang from the rearview mirror. I was just thinking maybe someone "out there" had something in particular that they hang from their rearview that makes them smile and think of the World. I know I will probably just have to wait til my next trip and peruse the girft shops. I went to LaughingPlace but did not see anything.

I once had a crystal heart hanging from mine and was told by a police officer to take it down :guilty: Enjoy your new vehicle!

please use a stuffed character in the seat, or something that does not hang from the rear veiw, as larger items hanging there are a distractiuon and can cause blind spots,, i know from experience,, the slightest distraction can cause an accident and get someone hurt. place your decor lower... you'll still see it and its not a distraction. ( theres a stuffed frog sitting on the t ransmision hump of my suburban,,lol)

In many states it is against the law to hang something from thr rearview mirror. You can be stopped and ticketed.

Just throwing that out there.

it's big time illegal in california-immediate reason to get pulled over and ticketed. not to say that some folks don't do it and get away with it, but i had a friend who had a light weight christal heart or ball (very small) hanging from her rearview-she had to stop short one night (someone cut her off) and that light weight item hit the windshield such that you could see an impact mark in the same shape and the rest of the windshield cracked out in a spider web like pattern. luckily it stayed in one peice and she did'nt get cut.

I have a Disney dangler hanging right by my mirror. I have Minnie.
DD has Tink and DH has Buzz. They give me a Disney fix and they aren't very big.
(I also have a Yankee Candle car jar hanging from my mirror ;) )

WOW! I have NEVER heard that rearview mirror items are illegal. To be honest with you, I don't think they are in Florida. I have had something hanging from my rearview ever since I have been driving (20 years now) and so does my mom, DH...sooo many people I know. Now that I think about it, I have two friends that are married to cops and they have stuff hanging from their rearviews...hmmm, I will look into this, but I would bet it is not illegal in FL! Thanks for the concern, though!

Meriweather...oooooo, what exactly is a "disney dangler?" :confused3 Sounds cute!

First of all.... Congrats with the new car!!!

Second.. you may want to check to see if its legal... where we live it is illegal to put anything on your rearview mirror..

Third.. be safe.. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the new car!

Why don't you go on e-bay and do a search on disneyana and license plates. They have some really nice vanity plates. I just ordered this one:

plate.jpg

I borrowed the picture from e-bay. The seller is called "disneyana" and has a bunch of great plates!

I also found a license plate frame that I'm thinking of getting. It's a Happiest Homecoming on Earth frame with all the characters around the frame, but it's for Disneyland and not WDW.

Ooo, marseeya! that is a cool plate! But alas, as you can read in my original post...no license plate holder for the front of the car! Isn't that awful? hmmm, but a "frame" for my back license plate that has something to do with WDW is a good idea...I didn't think of that!

How can I find out if it is illegal to have something on my rearview mirror in FL? I mentioned it to my parents, they are both born and raised in Miami and neither one of them have ever heard such a thing! :confused3

we use our Disney antenna toppers - that way they don't get stolen - and we have an integrated antenna now anyway.

If interested: go to the craft store and get screw eye hooks - put them in top and string ribbon or elastic cord through. We change ours out with the holidays/seasons. Have no idea what the law is here in NY - but have never been stopped. Maybe we're breaking the law :confused3 ....livin' on the edge!!!!

congrats on the new car...DH just brought home our new Hyundai Sonata tody.......he's happy....

It has a suction cup and then a little figure dangles from it. They move with the car motion. My Minnie is on a swing, so she swings back and forth.
Tink has her wand out in front of her. There is a Sorcerer Mickey also with a wand.
I will see about taking a picture.
We got them at the World of Disney.

My rearview mirror sports a Sorceror Mickey antenna ball intertwined with the lei my DD received at 'Ohanas. It always cheers me up. :teeth:

:cool1: Thanks for posting those pics, meriweather! I think I see a "disney dangler" in my future!

pan-Yes, living dangerously, you are! :smokin: LOL! That is a very creative idea...I always liked the mickey antenna toppers but have had an integreated antenna for awhile now, so no where to put one!

luvmy2sams-That is why I am going to wait and buy whatever I want at WDW...cuz I love that warm, fuzzy feeling I get when I see a souvenir and remember the fun times behind acquiring it.

Thanks for the congrats on the new car...it is a convertible and I cannot wait to christen it with it's first drive to Orlando and The World! :bounce:

Your registry of motor vehicles ?? website or phone call?
maybe call your local police department?

We just traded in our Explorer for a bright chili red Saturn Vue and the first thing DH and I had to do was decorate!

I have a Minnie Mouse antenna ball - the black matches part of the vehicle and the red bow matches the rest. When we were at WDW last month, we bought the magnetic "been there, done that, going back" bumper "sticker" and DH also found one that says "Magic Kingdom" and all the letters are made of Disney icons or characters. We also have a WDW vanity plate, so the whole effect is obnoxious and we love it!

If rearview mirror decs are illegal, maybe look into the mag bumper stickers? Or stick an antenna ball inside where you can see it?

btw - those danglers are fantastic!! And definitely on my list for our next trip. :goodvibes

In MI it's legal because it can obstruct your view, but I don't think it is here in NY. When I moved here I realized everyone has something hanging from their mirror. Most of them have a whole mound of gaudy ribbons, bows, etc. Also, in NY we have front and rear plates, so no vanity type plates can be put on. I think I'm going to get an antenna topper one of these days. do people really steal them though? :(

On another note, I wish they made magnetic things for bumper stickers. I don't want to put my son's "citizen of the month" bumper sticker on my new car, so I tried to adhere it to some magnets and they wouldnt' stick. Although, now that I'm thinking about it, aren't Saturns made of plastic?
