Maybe it isn't but hopefully one of you kind soles won't laugh at me....
I need a new printer. I really don't wish to print pictures at home. But would be nice if in a pinch I needed to print one I could....
So the printer would really be for actual document printing, letters etc...
I found this one
Canon PIXMAiP6229D for a great price, around $50. I didn't think to ask any questions...but just thought hmmm that looks like a good price about the cost of ink for my current printer!
But looking at all the info on line, it looks like it is only a photo printer.....can that be?
So here is my ????
Are there just photo printers out there and you then need a seperate printer for reg. printing?

as far as I know, it's not ONLY a photoprinter. it can also print regular documents and such. Be aware that nowadays, new printer comes only with 25% ink in the reservoir.

I have an Epson R320 printer, I use to print all my vacation pics ( I have a digital camera too). This printer prints great pics, with glossy photo paper, and great documents too. Price is around $150, and it has six ink cartridges. :surfweb:

I have a Canon i960 that hooks to the scanner, so I use it virtually for everything from documents to photo's. Not a bad little photo printer!

Hi,
I copied and pasted this into a search and did not find anything. Can you post a link to the specs?

I recommend Epson printers. An Epson C88 will only cost you about $75-$80 and not only prints great photos but also prints more ordinary stuff like web pages at extrememly high speed.

That was a sweet printer that I never got around to buying. I got to the store too late.

Boy, you can go all over the map on this one.

Here is one thing that is not known by a lot of people. Every printer has a print head, this is where the little nozzles are. They wear out and have to be replaced. HP, Epson and Canon handle this differently.

Everytime you buy an HP ink cartridge you are also buying a print head. It is built into the cartridge. That's one reason their inks cost more.

When you buy a Canon or Epson cartridge, you are only buying the ink cartridge.

You have to send the Epson printer to Epson to have the head replaced.

On a Canon you order a head when you need one, take out the old one and slip the new one in.

The way printers are changing and the ability to get a decent one at a good price I would just get a new printer. Unless I'm having a love affair with the old one.

The IP6220D lists at 149.99 on the Canon site ( I don't see a 6229d)

I love HP Printers. We have an el cheapo at work and it prints excellent pictures.
