Really Stupid 'Math' Question...

My brain isn't working tonight - how can I convert the US gas price into Canadian gas prices - to see how much cheaper it is to go across the border and fill up (or even worth it). For instance if they are paying 3.79/gallon, what is that per litre for us?

That actually is a really good question! Their is 4.5 litres to one gallon of gas. Just figure out the cost between the two and you will see how much you save....or I usually use something like the dhl conversion table which is dead on accurate if you need to figure out lots hth

In the States it's only 3.78 litres per gallon, so divide the price per gallon by 3.78 and multiply by the exchange rate. I tack on an extra 3% to factor in what the credit card companies make on the exchange, so...

($3.79 / 3.78) * 1.04 = $1.04/litre

paid $3.66 at the Indian reservation yesterday, so $1.00/litre. Selling here for $1.22/litre, so I figure I saved maybe $15 - $3 for the border fee, so $12. Not bad.

Yes, there's a difference in "our" imperial gallon and the States' gallon. Ours is 4.55 litres, the States is 3.78.
