Really stressed about upgrade (mod to deluxe) decision

I think everyone has really good points. For and against. You'll always get both when you ask a question about it being worth it. What anyone else thinks about "worth" is really their own personal opinions as they have all agreed. To ME is it worth it and we're coming from the perspective that we don't vacation but every 3 years or so and we are lower middle class in income so we are scrimping to save for our trips. But the deluxe amenities are things were truly enjoy. Restaurants, in the case of AKL... animals, and I personally LOVE the indoor corridors. They to me make it relaly FEEL deluxe and stand apart. No chance of anyone sitting right outside of your door drinking it up and being loud till all hours (balconies are another story but they are intrusive in atht they could keep you out of your room) like at a mod or value and not moving AT ALL when you tried to get through to get in or out. (Had that happen at the CBR) I LOATHE that so I love indoor corridors. But we can't afford a deluxe for the whole stay either so we are splitting our stay between POFQ (which we adore much becuase of the boat to DTD) and AKL. 6 nights at POFQ and 4 at AKL. It's a way for you yourself to answer that very question "is it worth it". Just do a few day at AKL if you aren't sure. It is the cheapest of the deluxes isn't it guys? And it is a very adored resort from what I read. I've only been to Boma like you but really LOVED the feel of the place so staying there was a priority this time for us. Only YOU can answer the "value" question for yourself so I really encourage a split stay!!! :cheer2:

One thing to consider, too, is that a better code might be offered for that time. You could get AKL for a much better price. Also, I'd consider booking a less expensive room at AKL. Once you're in the lodge you can walk to many viewpoints. We normally stay at WL, and we've had standard, woods, and courtyard. We enjoyed each very much and didn't feel a standard room was a letdown over a courtyard at all. So, you might want to price out a standard and/or a pool view at AKL. These will give you better value. Plus, there's always hope for a better code.

However, being onsite is the best no matter where you stay. Have a great trip!

Lets see first time staying onsite, Im sure you will be thrilled with a moderate.

I think when a person reads these boards all the time they analize each and every decesion they make. Im guilty of that...... did I get the best room/location/maybe I should upgrade etc, etc....it never ends

Someday I am going to stay at AKL and when I do it will be with the savannah view

Hi everyone,

DH and I talked it out and decided to go with..... POFQ for the entire stay. The reason was this - although we could afford to spend the extra $1000 to stay at AKL (I know there MAY be codes that come out cheaper, but we don't count on them for making $$ decisions right now) we would rather spend it on things while we're at the parks. We also figured that since we typically travel more than once per year, we could stay at a luxury hotel on another trip.

Thanks so much for the advice/info/input :thumbsup2

I think you made a good choice We just made two trips to WDW this summer . We spent 18 days at POFQ the first trip. Then the second was 6 days WL, 10 days POFQ and 2 days GF. The 10 days at POFQ were originally booked at CSR but while we were at POFQ on the first trip we loved it there so much I called and changed the reservation. My theory is as long as I am on Disney property I am happy. You will have a great time no matter where you stay.

Good Luck and have fun. I hope you have a great time. You did exactly what I would have done so I hope you like it as much as I do. :goodvibes I can never get myself to pay for deluxe resorts but I really love POFQ and would be happy staying there every time. ( I went to the deluxe resorts with family) I now own DVC so I will stay in the villas but that is the only way I can get myself to stay other places. So therefore I will not be able to go to AKL until the DVC is done being built there. I wonder if I will ever give up being a cheapskate! :teeth: :rotfl: :lmao:
