Is there anyway of reducing a specific muscle group??

It's just with all the walking I do - 4 miles a day+ my calves and thighs are humongous and I went to buy some boots today and i couldn't do the zip up past where my calf muscles bulge out.

I really want the rest of me to be this muscley but not my calves - they look like a male runners (esp. when I forget to shave LOL)

When I went to the doctor she said it was definitely muscle there not fat - just fat from the bum upwards. I just want to get shot of my belly!!!!! If i could somehow walk to school using my abs then I'd be happy.

LOL!!!!! Walking to school by using your abs??? Now there's a thouhgt! Quite imaginative!! You are a funny lady !!!! :teeth:

Elisebutt,

It depends on how much weight you have left to lose.? Is it 10lbs or 25 or more? If you have 25 or more..than I can tell you from experience that you will lose some of the mass in your calves. If you only have 10 or less to lose...than you may not lose much more mass off your calf.

Whatever you do...don't stop working out!!!

You're killing me! That is a very funny mental image!

Good luck, sweetie! You can't spot reduce. I've read that some female shoe designers have come up with a boot that stretches to fit over the calves now (saw it on Oprah). Maybe you need to shop around a bit!

I would suggest pilates or some other stretching kind of exercise. I do pilates about 5 to 6 times a week and it really encourages you to stretch your muscles long in the body so that they become strong but not too bulky. It is fabulous for your abs and legs. But that is my best thought to lengthen the muscles you have without losing any of your hard work!!

Good luck!
