Really sad to see....

During our last Disney trip, we saw lots of people offering up seats on busses. DH never sat on a bus- he stood holding a stroller on every single ride. If I had a seat, my kids were on my lap. We encountered some packed busses where many people offered their seats to elderly and people with small children. I would never expect someone to give up their seat for anyone but having been standing on a bus trying to balance myself while holding on to a toddler who can't balance himself during bus turns, it's definitely a nice gesture.

This thread seems to be progressing along the lines of the previous 100+ threads that have been posted on the same, identical subject; although it appears that the mods have been doing a lot of Housekeeping. Too bad the search function was glitching, or the OP could have saved a lot of space and simply added on to the already active thread on the TRANSPORTATUON BOARD, where this subject belongs.

In keeping with all of the previous threads, I will add this thought: Seats on buses are disappearing. Every new model bus that comes along has fewer seats than its predecessor. This is as true at WDW as it is in the real world. Why? Because buses are designed for mass transit. As in: getting the largest number of people from one place to the next as fast as possible. How do you do that without doubling or tripling the number of buses? The most cost effective way is to increase the number of people per bus. How do you do that? By reducing the number of seats, because a bus can hold a lot more standing passengers than sitting ones. A PPs description of the London Underground is a prime example.

Robo may not have been all that far off the mark when he suggested that nobody gets to sit. It just might happen some day. Until then, I would suggest that you refrain from judging those people who don't offer up their seats. Unless you are intimately acquainted with their full history, you have NO idea why they remain seated. Confine your judgements to your own group. And if you are unable to stand on a bus, take personal responsibility for your own safety. Disney transportation is provided as a courtesy. If it doesn't meet your needs, there are other options that you can choose.

People really shouldn't judge because sometimes you can be really wrong about people. My DH had a vertebral artery dissection which led to a stroke at 42. It affected his cerebellum, which is responsible for muscle control and balance. While he looks like a perfectly health guy, when he's tired his balance is really poor and well, he walks like he's drunk and he doesn't even drink. We get judgmental looks and a few comments here and there that I notice, usually I'm too lost in our own little world to care. On occasion, when I do hear them, I sometimes respond to a rude comment with a smile and quick explanation, but usually I just ignore them. DH s a former Marine and it's ingrained in him to be polite and he usually never sits on the monorail, but sometimes when he's really tired he has to because otherwise he could fall over trying to balance.

I share just to offer an example of someone else who looks normal and wishes they were "normal" enough to offer his seat all the time, but sometimes can't.

Never judge a book by its cover. While that person sitting may look perfectly healthy enough to give up their seat, you do not know if they really are. Just remember many things are invisible. ...such as arthritis, heart disease etc....they may not be able to stand either and you are judgmental of them

Disers this thread is getting way way to argumentative .
