Being from New York, I remain clueless except, thankfully, for this board. Is it true that only Feb use year is being sold now for BCV? We travel in Jan and March, so from what I've read here, it would seem that Feb would not be the best bet for us. If it's only Feb now, guess I should stop stressing over lack of NY sales! Judy

I just bought points at BCV, and received an April use year (at my request). I think they are pushing February, but I'm sure if you press your guide, they will accommodate you.

We have never found use year to be very important. We have three contracts two in Oct and one in June, and our vacations are always in March, and Nov. The accounting is minor. We always use the points which would expire first. Our use year has never been a problem. With banking and borrowing points are very flexible.

Most people I believe would attest to the fact that they bought as many points as they thought they could afford. Then, when they realized how great the DVC experience is they wanted longer/ more frequent stays than they anticipated. Therefore they often opt to purchase additional points packages, but this is due to increased usage not use year.

I just bought and got a September use year so it would match the BWV points I already own.

Ok, this is helpful. We're going to go down in March, buy in person and hopefully, get that December use year. Thanks all. Judy

From what I understand, your Birthday is more of a concern for the Banking structure more then a worry about when your making your reservations. Reservation time windows: 11 months for Home Resort Points and 7 months for Non-Home resort points can be made by the dates you select for your stays - you just have to figure out if your resercations will use present year points, following year points or a combo of both. The banking window could be more influential on your timing of reservations because the 1-6th months of your Birthday allows you to bank up to 100% of your points; 7-9th months you can only bank up to a max combined or total of 50% of your points; 10th month is a max combined or total of 25% of your points; 11-12th is use or lose whatever is not already used or previously banked. If you understand the Banking system - you can determine if your usual vacation times allow you to "wait" and decide on a vacation long enough before you lose the opportunity to bank points you may not need. The amount of points you chose to purchase will also affect this theory if you depending if you allowed to have "extra" points for the "lets go big some years or 2x times multiple but not all years" if you know what I mean.
