Really mad at Disney

Of course, that is true... there is always someone that is better, smarter, richer, etc. That is a given.

I was alluding to the fact that ducklite doesn't even know the guy.

I guess you feel the need to support her because you are friends?

Duck certainly doesn't need any "support" from me. Is it impossible to believe that I might actually agree with her?

Pardon me, but we don't even know his qualifications so you can't really say it was a rash statement when you don't even know him or his qualifications ....

My dh is a design engineer and I feel like Conservative Hippie - that no one else is as qualified fror many jobs because I know it to be true. That's not a brag, it's an observation. My dh is diversified and knows how to design better than most of his colleagues. He has worked on Dodge Durango headlights, the new Bluebird busses, Bombardier ski jets, the Joint Striker fighter plane, and many others.

I think we know our husband's better than you do.

Unless you know all the other potential candidates in the same field, it'd be quite a stretch to claim "no one else is as qualified." There is always someone who is a little bit smarter, a little more experienced, a little bit more savvy out there somewhere.

About two weeks ago, DH went to Disney to interview for a software programmer job. They made him an offer that was way low--way way lower than the salary range he asked for, and even a pay cut from what he is making now. He countered back with the lowest end of the original range he gave them. We just got a response back that they rejected the counter offer. I can't believe they want someone to do that job (50+ hours a week!) for so little money! I'm really mad and I don't even want to take our May trip to the parks anymore.

I know you are disappointed but I think maybe separating the job disappointment and the magic you feel in the parks would be a good idea. Don't let this spoil the Disney experience for you. Go on your trip in May and enjoy yourselves.

Really, whoever they find to take the job for that amount of money is not going to be nearly as qualified as DH. We have other companies in central FL we are looking at.

The environment today is not what it was a few years ago. My DD's company was just sold. Their IT department had been scaled back in the past 3 years, and now they have heard that the new company is not keeping any of the IT department employees. I'm sure that your DH is very good at what he does, but there are a lot of highly qualified individuals applying for the same job and that can make it more of a challenge to keep the pay scale as high as it was at one time.
