Call me crazy but I want to go to WDW over Christmas and New Year's. The issue is that I am having surgery on December 17th. If I am feeling up to it, we would arrive in Orlando on the 20th. I haven't made any reservations, but I have looked on VRBO a little.

What do you think the odds are of finding a 1 or 2 bedroom rental near WDW with only 2 days notice over Christmas and New Year's?

I have never used VRBO. Any advice?

Thanks.

Odds are slim, but people do cancel - especially if the weather is bad at their home.

Also look at Ebay. Last minute deals and cancellations can be found occasionally.

Timeshare booking services often need 2-3 days to confirm plans so be careful of these.

Also consider airbnb. You can contact owners directly.

You will need to choose someone who accepts credit cards and PayPal. Not everyone does.

VRBO can be great. We responded to a scam once so do a search on the phone number and address of the rental to verify the person you are dealing with really owns the property before paying if you can.

I have contacted listings showing availability in the past a few weeks out and let them know my need to book last minute. Most showing availability weren’t actually available. They just don’t bother to update their calendar.

Don't forget Skyauction and Priceline for last minute bookings.
