I used to love flying you direct from Boston. But $500 8 months out?!? I think we need to start seeing other people.

When are you flying? And what flights are you looking at? I just went through about two weeks worth of flights.....most were between $150 and $250 one way. Plenty of flights that were under $200 one way.
I do wish that we could go back to being able to fly round trip to Orlando for under $200, but those days are gone...despite oil prices plummeting!!!

We want non stop flights only and need to bring one bag each. In October there is nothing on our days under $253 each way.

I know the days of $200 are long gone but $500 seems outrageous. Especially since JetBlue was always supposed to be cheaper. I think their new price structure is going to alienate a lot of people.

On the subject of JetBlue...... We were THRILLED years ago when JetBlue started flying direct from Providence to Orlando. Prices were great, flight times were great too!! We travel in the spring and fall anually. Looking at end of Sept/October flights to get an idea of Nov flights this year and the times departing are noon and night (used to be an early flight and mid aftn). On the way home the only avail flight is first thing in the morning (used to have a 2PM home). And the cost....ridiculous!! Plus now they have connecting flights into Fort Lauderdale! Really? If I didn't know any better I'd say JetBlue is trying to get out of Providence completely!! :sad2:

I fly JB out of Logan, Providence and Worcester. I like JB...it's my 'preferred' airline. But....they do seem to be changing up their routes. I'm seeing fewer direct runs. And costs have gone up. But, they're up across the board with other airlines as well. Sure would be nice to see an airfare war!!! Used to be so nice getting a one way from Logan or Green for $75!!!

Agreed...it's our preferred airline as well.....and oh, do I remember those cheap flights! We may be looking at Southwest for November as currently they have many more flights/times to choose from (just hate the seating/lack of Even More Legroom/no TV)! 8-) Tho the flight attendants are hilarious!! :thumbsup2

Yeah, my Nov-Dec trip may with SW. Have to wait until JB ones that booking window.

The day they extended their schedule into late October I booked 3 RT's on the Blue Plus (is that the right name - the mid fare with 1 bag included) for under $1200. I thought that was ok.

I think flight prices have dropped a great deal from the northeast. We fly out of Albany NY and even though Jet Blue now has two direct flights to Orlando we always fly with Southwest. Right now they have three direct flights a day to Orlando and at least 5 with one stop. I paid $79 down direct and $89 back direct for next week with a return on March 3. The fact that I can fly two bags each for free is just a bonus.

We booked Jetblue roundtrip from Buffalo for our October trip, nonstop both directions, Blue Plus fare (which includes one checked bag each) for $317 per person. We were really quite happy with that price.

OP, that stinks that your fares are so ridiculously high!

We stopped flying jet blue out of boston and now fly SW out of providence. The prices are always very reasonable for us.

Yeah they got rid of the direct flight from Burlington VT to Orlando and their prices have skyrocketed. We are flying United next week for about 220.00 per person round trip. Nervous but a much better deal.

It is not vacation week. And we are flying out on a Thursday. For the times we need $500 is the cheapest. And my husband hates having a stop. Delta is $400 but I'm hesitant to book anything this far out at this point. I keep looking hoping to snag a freak deal.

I'm guessing you are trying to fly out the Thursday before Columbus weekend? If you can look at a later flight on Wednesday, you will probably save some money, or even making a connection. Trust me I hate making connections, and I hate making a connection in JFK the most (but I'm jaded). I'm not sure how many people are traveling with you but saving 80-100 bucks per person can add up pretty fast.

Plus who knows prices can always go down, they send out their fare deals on Tuesday's so keep and eye out. Hopefully you will get a great deal still plenty of time!

Nope, not the holiday week/weekend. Just a regular Thursday. It's just two of us and my husband says paying a little more is worth it to him to avoid a layover. But $500 is excessive.

That is a lot! This far out you should be getting better fares than that.

We made reservations the day they opened up the calendar from JFK-West Palm Beach for $202 each. If we went to Orlando it was $250. This is for 9/21-9/26 though. We usually pay around $300 each.

Can you fly into Tampa? The drive isn't too bad.

We flew into Tampa two years ago. I agree the drive isn't that bad, my husband doesn't want to do that this year. He is so difficult.:sad2: If it was up to me I wouldn't mind having a stopover to save money.
