Really interested in designing!!! HELP PLEASE

My wife loves to make anything disney. She had someone on here design a shirt for her and i am interested in learning how to make/manipulate the different disney designs i see on this website(adding names/sayings to pictures). Any way someone can point me in the right direction, a website, book, steps....anything. Someone please help. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Do you already have any photo editing software?

searched the net and downloaded paint.net. don't know if it worth using. I actually haven't even opened the program yet.

None at all. I know everyone says this, but i really am a quick learner. Like i said, if someone could just point me in the right direction....

Do you have a specific idea of what you would like to create? The first designs I did were for an autograph book for DD. So I needed to create a format (size/shape of the design), and then what I wanted to include in it.
