Really dumb question...

Yes, this is a dumb question, but here it is. If you need to use moleskin while you are at DLR, do you bring in scissors too? Will they let you in with scissors? Will a shop in the park have scissors I can borrow to cut it if need be? See, I told you it is a dumb question. I am making a packing list and wasn't sure if I should add scissors to my list. Thanks!

I've taken in scissors (very small pair) or I have pre cut pieces that I take with. Moleskin works wonders!

I usually just have a few pieces pre-cut just in case. Scissors are just another thing I'd have to carry around all day, and I try to pack light for the parks.

Also you can get (at most big drugstores in the footcare section) a sheet of moleskin that has nice shapes already scored for you. It has various size rounds, ovals, rectangles and strips all stamped into a big piece of moleskin and you just peel off the one you need. I found these a couple of years back when my family went to Yellowstone for extensive hiking trip.

I've never used moleskin before.....is it to put on areas that your shoes rub? Does it come off when wet?

Yes, you put in where you think blisters will form. Do not put it on when you already have a blister because it'll pull off the skin when you take the moleskin off or if you do, cut a circle out so you don't directly stick it onto the blister. In terms of water...I think it can withstand some dampness, but not a lot of water. I haven't worn it swimming, but I do know that it came off pretty easily in the shower.

I use moleskin particularly if I'm wearing new-ish shoes or sandals, in case of rubbing. Works like a dream if you apply it soon as you notice any discomfort.

Also, I have forgotten I had moleskin on my heel and went swimming, and mine didn't come off. It was easier to peel it off when I did remember it, but if you're just thinking of Splash Mt or something, you should be fine.

Yes, I was thinking Splash or GRR. Great to know, Thank you guys!!

And OP, I have a tiny pair of scissors I bring to the parks. Never been an issue. They are really small. I use them to trim the straws in my kids drinks. You know how the straws are full size in the little kid cups? I trim them because never fails, someone knocks over their drink. LOL. I know, it's silly:confused3

Not really answering your question but I hear if you wear NON-cotton socks and stick with moisture-wicking fancy ones, you are much less likely to get blisters as they tend to form when there is moisture and rubbing. I think I'll try that this time around. Mind you, if you're wearing sandals, I guess you'll need the moleskin regardless. :goodvibes

When you go through the "checkpoint" they honestly do nothing more than take a peak in your bag. Not sure exactly what they are looking for but they don't look hard. A small pair in a pocket would be just fine.

This. Last time I wore Smartwool socks and they were wonderful! This was during a 90degree weekend too. No sweating or chaffing at all. I also pre-cut some moleskin just in case. I was flying with only a carry-on so I couldn't pack scissors anyway. I'm guessing they may have scissors in the shops if needed.

I have also seen a good tip on this board about changing your shoes half way through the day. I'm definitely going to try that next time.

A very blister prone person here. Let me give you a miracle tip. Buy Body Glide (you can get it at most bicycle stores, runners stores, on the internet, sometimes at Dick's sporting goods stores, and occasionally at other sporting goods stores). Put it all over your feet in the morning before you put your shoes on and hit the parks (you never know where your shoes might rub at DL- I've gotten blisters on the top of my toes there before). Chances are you may never get a blister again. Before I learned about Body Glide on these boards I got blisters on every WDW/DL trip. I started using body glide on our 2008 trip, and I have not had a blister at WDW or DL since! Not one! We are open to close park people too- we walk all day long.

I also used to get blisters every time I would get a pair of new shoes, until they were broke in. Now I use body glide every time I get a new pair of shoes, and again, no blisters!!!

Our whole family uses Body Glide on our WDW/DL trip- we each bring our own stick. Even DH, who normally isn't really blister prone uses it to be safe.

For those flying and worrying about getting through TSA with scissors, I carry 2 pairs of children's (blunt ended) scissors for my knitting, and a pair of pointed nail scissors all in my purse, and they have never taken them away or asked about them.
