REALLY dumb question about dues - Found my answer and it was really strange

I was finally able to get onto the website and check my dues statement and it says: Direct Debit Statement Amount

Does anyone know if this means they take to dues out automatically? It seems like it to me, but I don't remember ever setting that up and don't want to end up paying twice.
 
My wife and I each have a separate contract, we had them before we met, and online, each of our accounts includes that "Direct Debt" line. Only mine is direct debt, monthly, though. Hers we pay yearly. It looks like you'd have to call member services to get the status but, my paper statement (the online one too) includes a breakdown of the monthly payments while hers just has the total. Also, the statement online includes a line "Statement Type" which looks to be "Cash" for cash payment or "Direct Dept" if you are doing the direct debt route. So, unless you had set up a direct payment of the total at some point, you should be able to look there to see.

So I called member services and got my answer and to be honest, it is really concerning. First they asked my address and when I told them they still had an address from 2 years ago on file. I updated my address and have been getting things from DVC to my home, but for some reason they still have my old address in their system. I look online on my profile it has my current address, the correct one.

Then I asked her about my dues and I explained that online is says Direct Debit Statement and I wanted to find out what that meant. She said that yes, indeed, my does were set to come out direct debit starting January 15th and it would be $90 some dollars a month. I told her that I have never paid my dues monthly and that I never set up direct debit. She then read off an account that they were supposed to be coming out of and it was not mine! She seemed really confused and I told her to remove the direct debit immediately as I did not want it and that was not even my checking account they were going to be coming out of. She did not seem concerned at all, but I AM. I hope she ended up removing them like I asked and then I just went online and paid in full with my credit card.

You need to contact Member Accounting to ensure that the montly direct debit is removed. Sounds like someone else wanted their dues setup for monthly and Member Accounting setup your account in error.

That is who I was talking to-member accounting.
 
You should have received a mailed dues statement by now, but if they did not have your address correct, you might not have it yet. The mailed statement makes it very clear that you have monthly withdrawals by declaring in the statement just before that Direct Debit section, "DO NOT PAY FROM THIS STATEMENT," because you have the direct debit from you bank account.
 
Disney/DVC has data and people issues. We have had an associate added to our account that we didn't know, we have had points removed from our account, had points added, had an old physical address become our current address, had old email address become our current, had our room bill at BWV last month paid by someone else's credit card by mistake.

Our statement just arrived yesterday. It went to our old address (and was forwarded by the post office) even though I changed it both online and with Member Services several months ago. I will be sure to insist Member Accounting / Administration checks to be sure they have our current address when I call to pay our bill.

Based on the troubles we have had getting our address changed with Disney, they must have multiple databases that contain guest addresses and none of them talk to each other. (The rest of the world managed to get our address change done promptly and correctly - even the ones we didn't tell we moved! Gotta love those junk mail people, LOL. Disney should hire some of them)!

The on-line dues statement will also indicate if your account is setup for Direct Debit or not.
 
We never got a statement and I am assuming it is because they had the wrong address. But the person I talked to in member accounting said I had to call member services to change my address, that she could not do it. So I would assume that the accounting and services computers talk to each other? But they each have separate addresses for me.

Yes seriously! We moved in June and I changed the address on our DVC account, My Magic Plus account, spoke to DVC multiple times to change the address and they STILL sent our magic bands and luggage tags to our old address before our December trip! :confused::confused::confused: Not to mention we got our Disney Files magazine once in the 6 months since we moved? No clue what's going on but it drives me a little goofy (or maybe donald would be more accurate haha)!
