Really dumb question about codes

Are the discount codes everyone talks about only for AP holders? We are thinking about going late Sept '05 for 5-6 nights. I don't think an AP would be good for us but if that is the only way for a break in the room price maybe.

'04 was a very difficult year, we had a few financial setbacks. I'm trying to convince myself to stay at All Stars or Pop but my heart just can't accept it! I would love to stay at the contemporary but at rack rate it is just not possible. We will be taking our two children and my parents will also go with my DH and I.

DH and I have stayed at CSR, Dolphin and GF. We liked CSR the best especially considering the kids. Although Dophin was location wise the best. The ESPN club sends out these strong homing waves to DH when he is in Disney. He just gets sucked in no matter how hard he tries to resist.

There are all sorts of discounts out there. I think the AP are the best ones (if I am correct.)

Can I just say, if you've never stayed at All Stars or Pop, don't be so quick to turn them down. If you're someone who spends alot of time at your hotel, then fine, I can almost understand. But if you're going to Disney to spend time at Disney, don't even give it a second thought.

People that have only stayed at Deluxe resorts often seem to forget something - The Value Resorts are STILL Disney Resorts.

What does that mean? It means impecable cleanliness. It means top-notch friendly service. It means Disney Ambiance 24-7. These aren't Quality Inns we're talking about here.

So the lobby's not as fancy. So the room's aren't as big.

To me, I'd rather have the extra couple thousand dollars I save by staying at a Value Resort (which are a blast), and use it to spend on other things at Disney. That's just me though.

I have to agree. We stayed at Pop a few weeks ago and previously I'd only stayed at moderates, deluxes and off site condos. I was VERY impressed. The place was spotless, the employees friendly and the pools were great!

Jeep girl, don't know where you're located but I'm in GA. Last year at the end of May WDW ran GA residents rates in the Sunday newspaper. I was able to book the CR, garden wing room for $149 a night for early June. That's the cheapest we've ever stayed there. I've also got the Wilderness Lodge (WL) for that rate using some of the general public codes that you see mentioned here and on www.mousesavers.com. I understand bout the finance thing. I had booked CBR(Caribbean Beach Resort) for last April at rack rate, ~$175 a night. This was before I found this board. Due to a big chunk being owed to Uncle Sam I felt the urge to cancel the trip. We decided to reschedule and "go cheap" , ie. Holiday Inn on US 192. What an eye opener! Then I found this board and kicked myself in that we could have stayed at the POP of about what we paid for the offsite place. Keep your eyes peeled, the codea are out there. Also Dreams Unlimited Travel offers deals for members of this board. I just booked the Swan for $159 a night for Feb 3-6 woth a 1 category room upgrade. The WL was going to run me $255 a night. Nice savings.

Not sure where you're located, but we live in Florida and use the FL resident codes all the time. For our trip in March, we used the general public code for the first time. There are codes for everyone. Check www.mousesavers.com frequently.

I agree with Jovidan and EsmeraldaX,

If you're really on a budget, POP Century would be a great choice. We stayed one night there a couple of weeks ago, as we arrived a day early for our DVC/OKW ressie. While we still ike the amenties of Deluxe resorts, we were very impressed with Pop Century. ANd while we usually prefer full table service dining...the one night we were there we really liked the selection and quality of the food court.

I'm in PA.

I did not mean to sound snobish at all in my post about the value resorts! I just have always wanted to stay at CR. After visiting a few times the Poly hit my list too but not until that powerball cooperates!

I read a few bad things about AS movies and that has made me shy. Also we will have a 2 almost 3 yr old and a 5 yr old by the time we go. I wanted to be closer to MK in case they needed a break.

Also, my last trip we stayed at GF. I had an upgrade since I was the organizer for a sales incentive trip. All expenses were paid for my DH and I. So going from that to a budgeted trip is going to be hard! I had a beautiful view of the castle and had so longed for my DD to see it and be there with me.

I know we will have fun. It is Disney, the most magical place on earth right?! So if its at All Stars or Pop it will still be Disney.

It is hard to top the Floridian, especially with all expenses paid by someone else ;) Do you think that you can swing a moderate? The reason I ask is that the moderates have really neat pools for the kids to enjoy. The one at Port Orleans looks really interesting, like something out of New Orleans. That way, if you can swing the moderate, go ahead and make a reservation for it, then, as codes become available you very well could upgrade to the WL, AKL or CR for what you already have as a deposit for the moderate. Email me and I'll go into the particulars of what all I did for our October trip to the WL and Poly. robincrawford@knology.net

To be truthful, if you've only stayed at the Moderate & Deluxes, you'll be disappointed by the values, no doubt about it. My inlaws stayed at the allstars last Jan for the Disney Marathon and I visited them from the AKL. Not what you'd expect. It's much better than staying off site, but I promise you, and I'm also not being snobby, but you won't be thrilled.

we have also decided we cannot afford a deluxe for our entire stay in may

so we are splitting our stay...have you given that a thought? we are staying at POP for 4 nights and then WL for 4 nights....saves us a nice little chunk doing it that way (I think its close to what we paid to stay at a moderate last year)

Wilderness Lodge is where we have always wanted to stay. Each trip we decide to stay there, then each trip we end up changing when codes come out. Yes, we can get WL for less, but look how much less we can get a value. We are not in the room much at all, so we'd rather save the money and use it for something else (like staying longer :D , 12 days in April)

We love ASMovies. Our 1st on-site trip our DS's were 2, 4 & 14. Yes, the rooms are smaller but we had no problem whatsoever. The Theme is what did it for the kids. We went "Toy Story" all the way. Our last trip we got a corner room right in "Andy's Room" (courtyard) next to the checkerboard. My kids were estatic. A little noisier, but not a nuisance. We had no problem hopping the bus back to the resort to rest, swim or whatever. In April we are trying POP, DS's will be 7 & 9 (19 yr. old will be at college).

Don't be afraid to try ASMovies or POP, it's always a personnal preference but you won't know unless you try.

Smiles!

That it's still Disney...no matter where you stay at, it's all beautiful and you'll always have that magical feeling....I just returned from POP and it was a blast, I even called my Mom to have her listen to the music that they have playing all over the resort and she thought it was so cool! I know the GF is wonderful (love that resort too!!) but POP and the All Stars are great and I'm sure your kids will love them, especially the pools and the arcades! Have fun where ever you decide to stay!
