I just read that at the beginning of June, DL is closing Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Peter Pan. I get it, those three are all in the same building, but WHY during one of the busiest times to go? If it's not a major refurbishment, how long are they typically closed for? I'll be there the first week of August. Do you think they'll be open by then? I can live without Peter Pan and Mr. Toad, but I LOVE Alice in Wonderland. Oh, they're also closing Little Mermaid.Another one I love.

I have a feeling the repairs are for the building then the attractions. I do not believe it will be a long and major refurbishment. I think roof repair and a/c work. Figure on a week to two week shutdown.

The timing isn't great especially with Splash going down a few days beforehand but my guess is that Disney discovered a maintenance issue with the building those three rides are in and want to fix the problem before it gets worse.
That makes sense. Splash Mountain!!! How DUMB of DL to close it at the beginning of summer. It will already be closed for 18+ months, what would keeping it open for two more months do except make people really happy?

Maybe they're sacrificing this summer's attendance because they want to meet a certain deadline at the end of the renovation?

I wish they could just give us an ETA on how long this is. If its a week or two, that sucks but maybe they have to but if its for most of the summer then close the rides now and start ASAP. I mean if I was in charge I'd start sooner then June no matter what or push splash closing date

I hope you're right. We'll be there in July and hoping they finish by then. All of those rides are EE rides which is really a bummer.

Matterhorn Bobsleds reopens June 2, just 3 days before this shutdown. June 3 and 4 are the weekend. That may not be a coincidence. It's possible the maintenance crew that is working on the Bobsleds will be doing this work. Regardless of whether they use an in-house crew or contract out for it, they can only do the work when the workers are available. I don't know for a fact that it'll be the same workers, but it makes sense that it could be.

Considering they don't have as many people working in the maintenance department as pre covid that would make sense and why I want Disney to address this finally.

Honestly, early summer isn't as busy as you'd think. The crowds are really insane for late summer and fall.
I'd rather go in June than Sept or Oct.
Really? I hope thats true but last yeah when I went in Mid June (Friday-Sunday) it was pretty busy. Rides had normal long lines after a few hours.

But hope somehow when I go the second to last weekend these rides are open and its not too busy

I am going to be there with an 8 year old who will be on her first visit June 6-8. So having these dark rides down is a major bummer. I get that they are in the same building, but they should never have Alice and Peter Pan down at the same time. But I wouldn’t be worrying at all if I was going 2 months later.

I don't know how tall your 8 yr old is or how they like rides in general, but she might surprise you. Our daughter was 7 when we went last year, and her favorite ride of all the parks was Incredicoaster. In general, my kids prefer DCA over DL -not by much, but DCA is definitely their favorite. They have a much stronger connection to Pixar and Marvel than the traditional Disney movies. I think I'm the only one in my family that really likes all of the Fantasyland dark rides because they bring back memories from my childhood.
