Really curious.. Stitch question..

How come everyone hates Stich! and the attraction?! I just don't get it, I thought it was pretty clever but almost everyone on here despises the little guy heheh. If you had the chance, what would you replace it with?

It's not that I don't like Stitch himself. For the ride, we loved it the way it was originally. And I realize it was too intense for many kids and Disney wanted more people to be able to ride it. There are a great many other characters too, and the last time I was at the world it just seemed like Stitch was everywhere. Overkill for me.

I have no clue what I'd replace it with. I just don't ride it.

I happen to really like Stitch. I think he is a very funny, cute character. I think the problem a lot of people have with Stitch is that Disney forced him on guests in every possible way. Disney has been doing this for eons - I remember being smothered by Pooh (and I love Pooh and friends, but even I got a little sick of it), the princesses, and now prepare yourself for the priates and the Tinkerbell assault. I am not sure what Disney's strategy is with this as it becomes rather tiring as a guest. I really wanted to buy a baseball cap and, as a woman, almost all of my choices were princesses or Tinkerbell. It would be nice to have some variety when it comes to what characters are being marketed. **cough**Piglet**cough**. Back to Stitch - I love him in the ladies room looking for Lilo. The ride is ok, but I wasn't a fan of AE either. I find them both a bit dull and the addition of the chili dog smell is truly nasty.

I just dont understand why with so many chactacters they focus on stitch. i wish there was more of the classic ones.

I hate the stitch ride, its was stupid, probably the little kids liked it, but not for me

DD9 and I have always loved Stitch. He's so mischevious, but had a good heart I think! We call our Yorkie Stitch sometimes (her name is Maia)!

We do NOT however care for the ride. It's just "blah". The preshow is more humorous than the actual show. We never experienced the previous attraction so it's not that we don't like change!

The end of June Stitch was still on the monorails, we are headed over there later today so hopefully we will hear something new! I did love when he said Muhalla (sp) and welcome to Stitch Kindgom!!!

Here's Stitch at DTD last a few days ago... My mom who is visiting snapped this picture while I was at the movie with DD and DGN! We are headed to DTD before MK this afternoon so I can see him for myself! I love how he gets decorated for different occasions!

I love Stitch! I still think he's one of the CUTEST and funniest Disney characters ever created! However, Stitch's Great Escape is a horrible attraction. Nothing actually happens. They don't even use the technology that the theatre is capable of! All they do is spray some chili dog scent along with water if you're sitting close enough to Stitch. That's about it. Oh yeah, he "jumps" on the chairs, but it doesn't even feel like he really is. When Alien Encounter was in there, they used the technology the theatre was capable of...and yes, it was scary, but it was actualy GOOD and original. Stitch is just an audio-animatronic show that goes nowhere and has you constantly asking when it is going to be over.

DD loves Lilo and Stitch. I was really surprised because she was pretty young (2) when she began her obsession. She is actually dancing with her Lilo and Stitch toys as I type right now. We haven't seen the Stitch attraction yet so I will reserve judgement. My only frustration with the way Disney markets Stitch (and from what I have gathered, the ride too) is that they tend to ignore Lilo. They are a DUO! Lilo has the best lines in the movie. Plus, and I mean no insult to the princess fans out there, but it is refreshing to have a female character for my DD to relate to who is not a willowy and gorgeous young thing whose story is complete once she gets married. I realize they are probably doing this because they have put their eggs in the princess basket when marketing to the female demographic and are reserving Stitch for the boys...but why, when Lilo and Stitch clearly appeals to both genders, do they leave Lilo out? :confused3
Plus they have the best backdrop...Hawaii! How neat would a Lilo and Stitch mountain set in a Hawaiian volcano have been!

We love stitch!

Hate the attraction.

I wonder who the attraction was intended for. Stitch (I would think) primarily has a younger audience in general, but yet the attraction would seemingly be too scary for kids under 5 being completely in the dark. If you are older than 9 (or maybe as young as 5) you feel cheated that you get strapped in and never move at all. The obnoxious smell doesn't really even fit with the personality of stitch if you watch the movies and TV show, I mean they never make stitch a smelly burper. The theatre looks like a scary Sigourney Weaver Alien set attraction, and putting stitch in there just doesn't really work right.

I'd love to see an entirely different Stitch attraction, with the mischievous Stitch we know making us laugh.

What would I replace the Stitch ride with? Alien Encounter!!! Loved that attraction and was truely bummed out when they changed it.

I actually like the Stitch character and wouldn't mind seeing a different ride based on him or the movie. But Alien Encounter was my favorite attraction at WDW and didn't think it was necessary to "tone down" the attraction for the kiddos. It was a truely unique attraction. Oh well, I always have memories!

I don't really know what I would replace this ride with, but I would find something if given the opportunity. I don't mind Stitch at all, but I was really disappointed in the ride. We waited a long time for nothing! You get all strapped in like something fun or good is going to happen.............and you don't even move! IMO, it was not worth the time wasted waiting in line.

I'll probably get flamed for this but-- Stitch annoys the snot out of me for reasons I really can't explain. On top of that, Disney forcing him on me at every turn is just overkill and I like him less. Enough with the monorail and wake-up calls and Stitch-centric pins! I just don't get the appeal.

I think Stitch is a very polarizing character; you either love him or hate him. I don't love him but I won't begrudge the people who do. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.

And to answer the OP's other question: I'd replace the attraction with an actual ride. Why strap us in with a (very uncomfortable) shoulder harness if we don't move? Maybe a new roller coaster? SM is kind of dated and Tomorrowland could use something fresh!

I am a Stitch fan, in fact one of my fav pics from last trip is me, DBF, Lilo and Stitch...Stitch was flirting with me too!! But, I was not overly impressed with Stitch's Great Escape. I remember Alien Encounter and while I thought that was definitely too intense and scary for kids, I didn't think this ride was all that great. It was funny but pretty disgusting when he burped but that was the only thing I mention when anyone asks about the ride. I was glad we only waited 5 minutes to get on it, I wouldn't stand in line for it next time!

Space Mountain is dated and Tomorrowland needs something fresh? I respectfully disagree.

I haven't seen Stitch's Great Escape yet, but my DH really enjoyed it when my DD and him saw it last year. I'm planning on seeing it this year, and I'm hoping to like it too.

I don't dislike Stitch :sad2: I personally just don't like how Disney has rammed him down our throats at WDW. I don't like hearing him when the monorail is approaching the MK, and I don't like hearing him on my wake up call :sad2: To me, Mickey is WDW, not Stitch :sad2:

Just my opinion :teeth:

I agree with you. Mickey is Disney to us but we grew up watching Wonderful World of Disney, seeing reruns on TV of Mickey cartoons and maybe even the original Mickey Mouse Club. Our children are almost never exposed to Mickey except in the parks. They hardly know Mickey. I went through all of my Disney movies and the only one I have that could be considered a Mickey one is Fantasia. Disney has done a great job of reintroducing the princesses to the next generation through other media but not Mickey. Disney has to hook that next generation and I think Stitch appeals to a lot of kids. I think they are using him to hook that next generation to make sure they bring their kids back.

I don't have a particular problem with Stitch but when it comes to any one character having that much face time, it better be Mickey. There are too many other great A characters on the sidelines while Stitch gets to shine. It's not very Stitch-like, but he's got to share the spotlight.

My DH is a HUGE Stitch fan ever since we went to WDW for our HM. He hadn't really been into the Disney thing, but he saw Stitch & that was it. He wanted to pick a character to love that a lot of people didn't choose. I love Tinkerbell, but with the new movie, book & other things, she's becoming more popular & more people are collecting her... It almost makes me sad.

It seems that Disney usually picks one character to focus on & once the novelty is gone and something else comes out, they kinda disappear into the background... I hope that doesn't happen with Stitch.
