Really confused about the tickets I have

So I have been a giant idiot about my Universal passes and I want to figure things out. Hopefully someone here can help me

My boyfriend has the old seasonal pass that was purchased before they redid all the ticket options. It expires in September and it was not flex pay. If I want to renew this pass I just have to buy a completely new one, right?

I have the preferred pass, also purchased before all the ticket options were changed. Mine is on flex pay. This is where the idiot part comes into play, I didn't cancel it when I was supposed to because I just wasn't thinking about it. At this point, it has already automatically renewed for next year. Is this pass now month to month and I'm able to cancel it anytime or has it renewed for the entire next year? I may be thinking about Sea World's annual passes with the canceling it anytime.

Universal APs can't be cancelled as far as I know.

many years back thought it was automatic renewal unless you cancelled

Yup. Just keep in mind that if renewed using flex pay, there is no renewal discount. You have to pay in full to get the renewal discount.

Well that's good to know.

And mind-boggling. I was going by what my cousin kept being told. When they first went to Uni after decades away they bought the cheap FL passes on flex pay. Then they realized they were going to go relatively often, but their passes didn't include parking. The ONLY option they were given was to pay the entire cost of what they owed on the passes plus the entire upgrade cost. And this wasn't just the first year they had the passes. They missed the window, and were only given the option to pay it all. They were never told they could have cancelled (and then just start a new AP including parking).

I'm glad to be wrong here, but I'm really confused for my cousin!
