Hi all...

Planning on staying 5 nights on a hotel/motel on International Drive, while visiting IoA, SW, DC and relax and shop :D

Do any of you have a clean and cheap ($40-55/night) hotel to recommend?? We would like free wifi, continental breakfast, pool and would love a fridge and micro.

I have checked trivago, tripadvisor and a lot of other sites - but everytime I find a decent hotel within the budget - it has seriously bad ratings at tripadvisor! Especially the Days Inn near Universal Studios..... I trust you on the DISboards more!

THANKS in advance! You are the best§ :wave2:

If I can get more for the same money, I am willing to stay in Kissimmee area! Since we have a car, so it won't be a problem....

(Since we will be visiting over the holiday, I guess the price will be a little more.... Our dates are 12/23-12/28)

Thanks in advance

- btw.... We are three adults and one child (11).
So we need two beds! My grandma is in a wheelchair so it should also be an accessible hotel.

I cannot imagine that you'll get all that you want in the price range you're hoping for. I was EXTREMELY lucky to get a deal at LaQuinta on Major Blvd this past summer. Free wifi, continental b'fast, in-room fridge & microwave, outside pool - $60 a night. That was during the late summer (8/15-8/18) not during Christmas week AND I got that rate because I had stayed there before and got myself into their point program. The room that I had gotten for $60 (plus taxes) was normally booking at $100+.

Unless you'd like to bring home all KINDS of parasites :scared:, I would think you'll have to at least double your starting price.

Hmm... I know that $40 was pretty naive :p but I've seen motels for about $50-55/night plus tax... But as you say, they are probably filled with bugs!!...

Right now I have a reservation at Super8 on I-drive, but it has some bad ratings and I could not get the rate shown online when I called - so I'm planning on cancel that, since it was over $65/night + tax!
Looking at the Red Roof Inn Orlando South which is over my budget the last nights, but looks nice! But it is actually way over our budget..

So yes, I am aware of it being hard and maybe impossible... But you never know ;) hope to find a decent place.

But thanks for your reply :) eventhough it wasn't the answer I was looking for.... Lol..

Any recommondations are appriciated! - eventhough the price is a little higher than I would like...

Honestly I think you will be able to get something for that price - oops now that I look at your dates sorry - I think you would have problems finding something at that price - you might try using websites like hotwire and lastminutetravel.com. I might recommend getting a hotel in the Seaworld area as the area is quiet, relaxing and very convenient to I drive without the congestion I drive can give you. Westwood blvd is a great location for example - convenient to I drive via the I-ride trolley which is $1.50/ride - also convenient to Lynx bus.

I have booked the extended stay deluxe on Westwood blvd. for about that price through hotwire but I don't think their regular rates are much different - the breakfast is very slim - bagels, muffins, cream cheese, orange drink - but they do have a full kitchen which is nice. It is basic - but I found it just fine for what I needed - free wifi. Another thought - I know I have seen the doubletree hotel at Seaworld on lastminutetravel.com (hidden of course) for $50 - no included breakfast, substantially nicer hotel and extra resort fee - same location. I think it can be done - good luck!

I have used hotwire a lot to get good hotels at very cheap prices - just pay attention to customer ratings - I wouldn't book anything less than 85% approval rating for hotwire. I would also stick to the Seaworld area for nicer hotels. Betterbidding.com is a great resource for hotwire and priceline bookings.

Try the Golden Link or Howard Johnson Lakeside in Kissimmee. Both are clean and usually around $40-$50 per night. HOJO includes a breakfast but the Golden Link breakfast is just coffee, juice and packaged pastries. Both are facing Lake Cecile and have nice pools.

I've found hojo pretty cheep. Dated but at least clean. You can find lots of discount codes to use so look around.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your replies ;)

I will certainly look into the different hotels and ideas!
Btw, I have actually emailed hojo in Kissimmee, but since we are staying in one of the bussiest weeks, the rates go way up 12/25-27. So the total price would be $402.07 - which is a little top much! But I will certainly look for discount codes :D unfortunatly all hotel rates go up and sometimes double over the holidays....

Thank you all!...

Wow... Just found a motel while looking for avability at the Golden Link motel! Have any of you heard about "Record Parkside Inn & Suites Orlando"?? Have no idea if it is too lousy, will check it out! 'Cause the rates are great! Can get the 5 nights for just under $200! That is over $150 less than Red Roof where I'm booked at now! (But if it is not decent, I will just take Red Roof and keep searching!)

Hi Disneyqueendenmark,

While I totally appreciate the fact that you are trying to find the most economical option for this part of your trip, I don't think you will be satisfied with the discount accomodations in Kissimmee. If there is any way to stretch your budget a little more, I think you will be much, much, MUCH happier near or on International Drive. We took a drive through Kissimmee on our August getaway and wow. Some of the hotels/motels there are so dingy.....it was sad, really.

I don't know if you already have your SeaWorld tickets, but you can get a SeaWorld partner hotel (the LaQuinta Inn & Suites) for $708, taxes included, for your three adults and one 11 year old. In addition to your accomodations each night, this price would include:

1. one day's admission to SeaWorld for everyone

2. one day of free all day dining for each of you at SeaWorld, and

3. the following benefits:

  • Complimentary upgrade to Quick Queue Unlimited with a purchase of regular Quick Queue
  • Early Entry to SeaWorld and Aquatica on select dates in peak season
  • Discounts on dining and select merchandise purchases at SeaWorld and Aquatica
Plus, this property offers free shuttle service to Universal (saving you parking and or transportation costs), was a TripAdvisor award of excellence winner for 2012, and has brand new Samsung TV's in each room.

Location is MUCH better for your planned activities (shopping, SW, DC, IoA, etc.) than a motel in Kissimmee.

Just some food for thought. Good luck deciding! :goodvibes

Magic Castle Inn and Suites in Kissimmee...I haven't stayed there in quite some time 7+ years. But when we did it was crazy cheap 30-40 per night. It wasn't the nicest place, but it had a fridge and never any problems.

Just did a quick search for your dates...$39 per night.

Thank you both for your suggestions! :thumbsup2
Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina: Since we're doing Discovery Cove we already have our SeaWorld tickets (maybe we'll buy the annual pass to SW). And unfortunately we can't stretch our budget that much! Right now I have a reservation at the Red Roof Inn Orlando South for $365 for the five nights. And I can surely understand that staying on I-drive would be more convenient, when visiting IoA, SW and DC - but it is onl7 5.5 miles from DC and 7 miles to IoA…. But thanks anyway! It would have been some great benefits to get! :D

Figment1983: I have looked into the hotel you’re suggesting – and it seems like it fits our needs! So I’m totally thinking about booking there! ;) just can’t deice whether to book at Magic Castle Inn & Suites or at Record Parkside Inn & Suites….. :confused3

Thank you all who have replied! Your help is REALLY appreciated! :thumbsup2

I would check out hotwire and use betterbidding to determine the hotel based on amenities and star-level. You might not get a $50 room but it will be close and probably considerably nicer. For your dates, I am seeing a 4* Sea World/I-drive for $67/night.

My daughter has cheer competitions in Orlando throughout the year. I have never stayed at this hotel but a few other cheer moms have and have stated it is clean and very nice for the price.

If you want to compare to other hotels in this area, I just put in a google search for "Silver Spurs Arena Hotels" and then clicked on maps. This arena is in Kissimmee. My personal opinion is it is FARTHER away from I-4 than I expected the first time driving there.

Best of luck!

I also wanted to say, you could go farther out to Lakeland as well. I did a google search for hotels in Celebration Florida and there were a few really cheap motels that had decent reviews. Celebration overall is a nice area close to the parks. One mentioned being next to the city bus station that went to the Disney transportation area every 30 minutes, thus saving the parking fees.
