Reallocating points

If I borrow 2020 points into 2019, but then cancel the reservation, can I reallocate them to another 2019 reservation (before 30 days out so then the 2019 points that can still be banked don’t go into holding)?

All points are from the same contract so I’m not mixing home resorts.

Does this all make sense? I feel like I’m confusing myself.

Yes. You can call MS and ask the CM to use the points borrowed from 2020 for an existing reservation in your 2019 use year. That would free up current use year points from 2019 that could be banked to your 2020 use year (assuming you haven't passed your banking deadline).

The borrowed points were originally from your 2020 use year, but returned to your 2019 use year because you cancelled the reservation that used them.

I have never tried myself, but I've read that if you start the process to modify a reservation online but change nothing, in the confirmation page you'll see.the reservation will use banked and borrowed points first. This should be a way to reallocate points without calling MS.

Once you Borrow points from 2020 back into 2019, they remain in 2019 and can be used for 2019 Reservations. And then you can Bank your ‘Regular’ 2019 points into 2020, as long as they qualify normally.

I agree with the suggestion above. To use your Borrowed points, just go to the Modify button, and then ‘Step’ all the way through the reservation, changing nothing, page by page, until you get to the page where you allocate points. Make sure it chooses your Borrowed points first. (It should do that automatically.) Continue stepping through the reservation and Confirm it. The points allocated to the reservation should now include the Borrowed points.

Just to add - the first point where it shows what points will be used may appear to be identical to what had been done but when it actually processes it will use the banked points and if you look at the point usage it will show that.
