Reallocating a Borrowed Point

We recently cancelled part of a HHI stay that used a borrowed HHI point. I called MS to see if they could reallocate it to use in another one of our reservations. One of our reservations already used all banked and borrowed points, so that wasn't an option. Another one of our reservations was booked between 7-11 months, so they said they couldn't reallocate the point to that reservation. Today, I was able to snag another night at the beginning of our trip. Of course, it used the borrowed point first. I'm going to chat to have that night merged into the existing reservation. I'm honestly not sure yet if we will be able to leave that early on the trip and may have to cancel that night. So that made me question all of this. And I'm not looking for a work-around. But if that night gets merged and then I have to cancel that night, would my current points get returned and the borrowed point stay in the reservation?

Once it is part of the reservation, then it will be eligible to stay there since you were able to book the night within 7 months.

So, I had the two reservations merged into one, and when that happened, my borrowed point got put back into my account. Here are the specific details:
February 16: AKV value studio (used 11 current AKV points + 1 borrowed HHI point)
February 17-19: AKV value studio (used 6 banked AKV points + 24 borrowed HHI points)
When the two reservations got merged, I have one less current AKV point and the 1 borrowed point is back. That shouldn't have happened, right?

Id go back in on your own, modify it now that it is one reservation, don’t change anything and it should now pick up the borrowed point when you rebook.

It should have but sometimes when the CMs merge, I find they don’t always end up the way they should

I just tried it. It shows that my AKV contract is locked and must be used first. Guess I will have to try chat?

ETA: I just noticed that I have 9 banked AKV points, but I shouldn't. All of the banked points were already used in existing reservations, but maybe that's why it's wanting to use that contract first.

If you check all the contracts, it will pull banked and borrowed points from all of them, even when it is locked.

I just did this when I got my RIV resale. For some reason, the SSR contract was locked, even though I had booked RIV less than 7 months out…but I checked the RIV new contract as well, and sure enough, once the booking was done, it used all of my banked RIV and freed up SSR.

Actually they aren't necessarily 9 banked points. It just showed there were 9 points expiring at the end of 2021 UY. Anyway, chat was able to reallocate the borrowed point. Not sure where she put it, but it's gone. And she reassured me that all my banked points have been used. But now when I play around with it and go to modify, it says 10 points are expiring at the end of this UY.

But it wouldn't let me check it because it was locked. When I checked the HHI contract, it said I couldn't use it first. Anyway, I was able to get it fixed, but I'm still lost on why when I pretend modify, it says I have 10 points expiring. Guess I'll chat later with MS.

Hmm. I know even when a contract is locked, and I check the rest, it doesn’t matter which one is first when there are banked and borrowed points involved,

It always pulls those first, and then goes back to use current UY points in order of the contracts….so, that is when the locked contract comes into play. You just have to follow through and actually book it again, but the screen right before booking makes it seem like it won’t work…but it does.
