Realistically get a parking spot in DTD parking?

We want to head over to DTD on Friday night...but I REALLY don't want to pay for parking for a just an hour or two. What's the reality of finding a spot in the free parking on a Friday night? I am half tempted just to walk over but it is a pretty far walk!

We were there recently on a busy night (Sunday night President's Day weekend) and there was parking in the lot by DL Hotel. I would guess that the closer lot would have been full. I say a good chance of availability. The earlier (or later) you get there, the better off you will be.

The first 3 hours of parking at the DTD lot are free. We parked there on Valentine's Day (way busy!!) and the sign to get in said the lot was full. We went in anyway and circled a few times until we found someone pulling out. My parents were in a separate car and decided to just pay $6.00 for valet parking for the couple hours we were there. I wouldnt think you will have a problem finding a spot.
