Realistically, chances of a table for 2?

My hubs is planning on calling to request a table for 2 on our anniversary cruise this December. In January, we sailed the Fantasy for our honeymoon and were seated with 2 other couples about the same age and on their honeymoon, too. We were expecting this but we didn't not have a great time, we would've really preferred to be alone.

What are the odds of us having such a request granted? I just want to prepare myself when he makes the call, you know, if I should have a surprise case of his favorite beer on standby for his potential let down. lol

Also, it's still about 9 months out... but we are sailing concierge. We've sailed concierge before and were told everything had to go through them, but 9 months out? I didn't request anything from them previously until 120 days out when our booking window opened. Does anybody know about that?

Sailing concierge you will 99.99999% get that request. We actually had to request to be seated with others*, on our second concierge sailing, because the default *tends to be* that you're seated with only your family.

*because we like it like that. Family of 3, around each other all the time anyway, we like some fresh conversation!

Oh goodness he will be so happy. We aren't anti social, but we run a small business and literally work and deal with hundreds of people all day, every day. We go on these things to escape everything and just enjoy each other. We rarely get to just sit and talk to just each other. We met a few couples on our excursions we really liked that we wish we were seated with instead but he doesn't want to risk it this go around. Thank you for the response.

I requested and didn't get one...........6 top  It worked out okay. One couple only showed once.
I think it may be my TA that didn't follow through. I will have to check with her.

We generally prefer to dine this way since, we did not enjoy some of our previous experiences also. We just completed our last cruise and booked it impromptu one week before sailing. DW called and requested seating for 2 and we were granted our request and were seated near several couples dining in the same manner.

We were granted a solo table (at the 2nd seating). It was important to us because we were on a 15 day cruise and DD has food allergies, so we preferred to keep our table free of allergens.

If you're concierge, you have to ask if you want to be seated with others, otherwise they automatically seat you alone.

Oh that's interesting to know... so that's an official thing? We sailed with our family concierge and sat with them our first cruise. Then went normal with just each other our second time and that's when we were seated with other people.

Thanks everyone. We also did not have the greatest experience with the other couples from our last cruise, it was the only downer to such an amazing week. I'm glad it looks like we can sit alone after all. And yes, we are doing second seating.

When your Concierge window opens just let them know what rotation you want and that you want a private table--it will be done.

Won't matter which seating you have---

My TA had told me that but I wanted to confirm so I called concierge. They said that was true. And, if you have reservations linked, they will seat you with that party unless you request something different. They also let me choose the rotation I wanted. Never been so I went with their recommendation.

We have always requested a separate table and had main seating. It has always been granted... so far.

This time were doing second seating, so we'll see.

We are 8 out of 9 getting a request for just the 2 of us seated together. Last month we decided to go with others and it worked out fine. Next week we have requested to be seated with our cousins, I hope that works out!

I'll throw this out there. It doesn't hurt to ask again on embarkation day at the location that is designated for dining changes. And another point (not applicable for the original poster), if you are booking back to back, the head server should come by and ask you if you want the same dining team and if you want to dine alone. We did this on our B2B.

You don't have to worry since you are concierge this time out, but in the future, you can ask to change tables if you and your seat mates don't hit it off. The servers know how to handle it with the others left at the table, and let's all be honest, we all know when we don't hit it off with others. No shame. Sometimes people just don't click and it is less awkward for all involved to go their separate ways. We ended up with great tablemates on our last cruise, DCL has an uncanny way of matching us all up. *waits for Disney to figure out they could make tons with the technology for a dating site.
