I am trying to figure out the "real" cost of a 4 night cruise. Other than the actual cost of the cruise (i.e. cabin(s)), I have a list of other expected expenses which I would like to ask if I have left anything out...

passports
airfare
hotel for night before
transfers/car rental to port
tips
pictures
drinks
excursions

Did I forget anything? Thanks for your help.

SOUVENIERS!!!!! Even though you may not intend to buy anything if you are like us you will anyway! LOL

Airport parking back at home (if you're flying out of EWR or PHL plan on $8-14 per day). Pet sitting. Clothing that has to be purchased (especially if you have kids!) Tux rental for formal night.

You mentioned passports, there's also the photo's that you need to have done for the passport. They cost about $10 per person.

There's also always the possibility of emergency expenses like forgotten items and medical bills.

Don't forget the odds and ends for the Kids...The snacks, I gotta Have's etc.

Here are some more possible expenses:

Palo's surcharge
wine tasting experience
informal excursion expenses (taxis, entrance fees if you are arranging for yourself)
bingo
over-the-door hanger or other organizer
soft side collapsible cooler
film and film developing
medications you buy specifically for the trip
game room
pop or refillable mugs

I just found a copy of our account summary from our 4 day cruise this past Sept. Some other things to consider:Bingo, Internet Cafe, Arcade and Spa.

I cruised 10 years ago and didn't need a passport. Have things changed? I happen to have one because I traveled to Europe and Japan, but if you don't need one for a Caribbean cruise, then why bother with it?

I was under the impression that they were necessary?

Passports are NOT required, they are helpful but not necessary. All those age 18 and older need a certified birth certificate AND photo ID OR a passport. Those under 18 need only the certified birth certificate OR passport. :)

Cut your cost. Find everyones Birth Certificates. Remember to take yours and DH's drivers lics. Drive to Florida it can be fun and educational. Get the Radisson Fall special if your going anytime this year $99. suite deal, free parking while on the cruise and free shuttle to and from the port. Pre-pay onboard credits and stick to that budget. You can call Magical Treasures to pre-pay. Take your own drinks you won't need snacks there is plenty of food onboard the ship. Don't buy the pictures taken onboard they're over priced take your own.
