Realistic Expectation for Baggage Time via DME?

Title pretty well says it all. I know Disney references "up to 3 hours" for baggage to arrive at the room via DME. Is that pretty well to be expected or is it less?

Trying to guestimate how long after our arrival our bags may take, if we leave them to be picked up for us. Our flight arrives Thursday evening shortly after 5pm. We figure to go out that evening for a light dinner and drinks, though figure it probably best to pick up our bags personally so they aren't hours behind when we may be looking to shower and whatnot before going out. Ultimately, not a huge deal either way as we'll have maybe 2 check in bags, but figured it worth asking those with experience!

It's always been around 2-3 hours for us but have heard others getting delayed for later arrivals.

We always bring carry on with are bathroom essentials, PJ's and a change of clothes just in case. We take DME to our hotel, drop off carry on and head to one of the parks or out out to dinner. Bags have always been there when we're returned.

You should always, always pack everything you will need for the first 24 hours in your carry-on.

We've used DME and our luggage was always waiting for us after we returned to the room after first nights dinner out ( w/ approx ~5pm arrival @ MCO). The one time a bag was missing was not DME's fault but the airline's as my bag somehow ended up in Miami. (It was delivered the next morning.)

If this concerns you, just claim them and bring with you on the Magical Express. Or as others have written, keep certain necessities with you in your carry-on.

The last time we used DME, I think it was right at the three hour mark that our luggage arrived, but we had already put what we needed in our carryons.

Keep in mind, that 3 hour clock doesn't start ticking until you check in to your resort. Assuming a 5pm arrival, and using the generally accepted 90 minutes (could be shorter, possibly longer) time from gate to resort, you won't be checked in until 6:30pm. That means the bags should get to your room between 9:30p-10:30p.

As mentioned, ALWAYS have everything you need for the first 24 hours in your carry on. That has nothing to do with DME. What if the airline misdirects your bag (IMO, there's a better chance of that than DME delaying it)?
