Real talk about scheduling fastpasses at the 60-day mark?

So I am eligible to schedule our fastpasses on December 26th and I have some vague ideas about what attractions I'm aiming for and I realize they are tiered everywhere but Magic Kingdom.

What I really want to know is, how quickly do top attractions run out of fastpasses? Do I need to get up in the middle of the night (I live in the Pacific Time Zone) to ensure I get what I want on the 26th? I actually plan to not schedule fastpasses very first thing in the morning, so how will that work out?

Any general advice would be appreciated! I've been very busy with the holidays and participating in a move at my place of business and I'm not quite where I'd like to be on this subject and the opening to schedule is quickly approaching!

How many park days and are you planning AK? If so, where does it fall day-wise in your plan?

4 park days, one day for each theme park and no hoppers.

Animal Kingdom is going to fall on a Thursday.

I should also mention Pandora isn't really a priority for us whatsoever.

Ok; then you’ll be okay if you are flexible with your FP times late in the day.

Is your party very large and are 7DMT and FEA (Frozen) in Epcot priorities?

It's just me and my husband and FEA is not, but I do probably want to do 7DMT, tbh.

Here's my take. I like to get up and be ready at 7:00 EST on the dot to make mine. Because I like knowing that what I have is secure and I don't have to think about it again until my trip unless I feel like tinkering (which always happens, because it's fun for me, but it's not stressful because I know I have them already). And I know that by making them at the first available time, I can get pretty much anything I want. Is having that "done" relief feeling important to you? I say all that because, if you make them later that day or the next day or the day after, you'll probably still be able to get things on the day you want but it could take some tinkering around with them and refreshing over a period of days to get a time in particular that you want. That can be quite time consuming. For a party of 2, in general, I think you'll be okay.

For two people, you still should be okay. I usually book for two and have booked 7D - late in the day FPs - without ever needing to book at 4:00a (I’m also on PT).
But, is your MK day on a weekend or Monday?

The only time I’ve booked at 4:00a was for FoP and only because I needed a specific time.

If 7DMT is your only real priority, you could get up, book that one, and go back to bed. You should be ok to book most other things later in the day since you have a small travel party and don’t care about it being early morning FP. As a party of one, I am often changing my FP around up until the night before, and I always find something I want.

I'm in the pacific time zone. I'm an extreme night owl, so I just stayed up until 4AM and booked FOP. I booked all other headliners over the next few days, got everything I wanted.

There is a page on undercover tourist that shows available fast passes by date - by time and ride. Start looking at that a couple days in advance and you will get a feel for how likely you are to get what you want. I think you'll be fine, but that is a great tool. Just google fastpass availability and it should pop up.

We are from Australia and we were logged on just as our FP window opened up. We managed to get 7DMT, Frozen, both Pandora rides. Just out of interest, we logged on again four hours later and we couldn't get either Pandora ride or 7DMT and Frozen was extremely limited.

It looks like you are going right after President's week. Top Tier will go fast. I'm from the West Coast too, and I got up at 3:45 am to get the FP's I wanted. But I wanted FEA, mine train, and especially FoP.

If you are not on a pkg, pick a day within the next 30 day to practice. This will give you an idea what you need to do and if any problems show up. Just be sure to cancel the FPs after you are finished.

Have a great time!

You will be OK since you don't want FOP, I think, especially with a party of 2. I was up at 7 am yesterday and we wanted FOP - and managed to score a fast pass for FOP for a party of six on day 60 + 3. It is in the evening, but we managed to score one with a large party during President's Day Week. We also managed to get 7DMT with no issue (didn't book one for FEA). I checked a few hours later and they are all GONE for the top tier.

Pandora might not be a priority for you, but you want to do FOP, which is the best ride in the parks. From what I can tell you should be online exactly as your window opens and make that FP your priority. Followed by 7DMT, Toy Story Mania, and Im not sure after that. Navi River another day if you think youd go back for it. Or get the FP for FOP and rope drop NRiver.

MK day is a Monday!

So I don't see anyone too concerned with getting FPs for Space and Splash here. Is that right? I definitely want to do these two to see the difference between them and their DLR counterparts, but should we just hit them early without FPs? The time of year that we generally visit DLR, we have almost no line for Splash before lunch, but how does that go at MK?

You should be able to Space and Splash. Space is soooo much better at DLR than WDW, in my opinion. I don't do Splash (not a water ride fan).

I would (probably) still FP them, but scoring a FP shouldn't be difficult at all. I'm going in five weeks or so and just peeked - I can get Space any hour of the day, pretty much. (Splash is down for refurb.) Incidentally, there's also lots of 7D in late afternoon/evening - thought maybe it was due to me just being solo, but nope... added a friend and they still pop up.

I would either RD 7D, or plan to RD either Tomorrowland or Frontier/Adventurelands. Is Peter Pan on your list? If so, maybe FP 7D and RD PP (so you can see the queue) then head to Space/Buzz Lightyear - or BTMRR/Splash/Pirates.
