Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer.

I wish this was true-- it would be one of the best "How stupid can people be" stories. My thought is it would be to hard/ maybe impossible to unhook the trailer -- plus when the boat docked at marina it would be notice the boat would be unable to dock next to the tires that line the dock.

A fun afternoon on a sunny day is to go sit up a lawn chair have a cooler of drinks and food and watch while boaters back thier trailers in the water while a spouse directs them. Funny to is to watch while boats are brought out of water. Some of the directional signals are to die for-- die Laughing that is.

here's another one a guy claims that happened,,real or not ?

I have 2 dogs and I was buying a large bag of Pal at Wal-Mart and standing inline at the check out. A woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting The Pal Diet again although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IV's in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Pal nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a guy who was behind her.

Horrified, she asked if I'd ended up in the hospital in that condition because I had been poisoned. I told her no; it was because I'd been sitting in the street licking my balls and a car hit me.

I thought one guy was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard as he staggered out the door.

Idiot...why else would I buy dog food??

Sadly the boat story wouldn't surprise me. We have a boat and a cottage we go to in the summer on a very busy waterway in northern IL. I am third generation of going up there and boating and we see inexperienced boaters all the time. People think that because they can drive a car they can drive a boat. So there are all kinds of people out on the water that shouldn't be. And since these lakes have become extremely busy (also unfortuntely) their lack of knowledge also results in a few deaths every year.
