Real-life photos on cabin door?

Another common way for people to break into hotel rooms is to go to the person cleaning the room and say they are that person and forgot their room key. Now this gets reduced on the ships as your room host knows who you are, but what if they are sick one day? It happens and if someone can see a full name and possibly pictures of others in the cabin, they could come possibly convince them they belong there.

Well, then, in this line of thinking, you WOULD want your photos on the door so no one can impersonate you.

Yes, I am kidding. I've had this instance plenty of times, I've come to my open cabin or hotel room door as housekeeping is in there. They always ask me for my room card to see if it opens the door.

Basically, everyone should do what they're comfortable with, but I don't see any harm in the photos. I feel like there are always going to be bad guys out there and you want to stay safe and not give them an in, but realize that you can't let fear rule your world. We have our entire familes' names on our doors. Not quite sure what they'd do with that info.

Here's my ex-CM answer.
Photos are safer than names on doors.
As soon as someone can give me someone's name and cabin number, I can give them some information about that cabin. Granted in my role, it wasn't much, but I can look them up, see if they're on or off the ship, see if they're kids is in the club or when they last were etc...

You could be travelling with family, give me all their info, but if you couldn't give me their cabin number (and your kktwc wasn't linked with them) I couldn't tell you.

Good to know. I didn't put our name on our door, but I had thought about it. I'm glad I didn't.

I've never heard anything bad happen because of it, and it's Disney, so if anything had ever happened they wouldn't let it be a thing. They wouldn't let us give any info.
Also, there's not really much they can do with the info, like if your on or off the ship, what are they going to do with that info? Or if your kids in the kids club?

But if people were questioning anything, in my opinion they'd be much more successful as being a creep with your name over your picture (unless they stole it because that major creepy) if they wanted to be lol

bbell, I see you as a very trusted source of Insider information because of your position as exCM, but I have to ask, I find it exceedingly hard to believe someone is going to find out our name and cabin number and Guest Services is going to provide them information on us? I cannot picture the scenario in which you are speaking of. Also regarding the kids clubs, you need to give a password when picking up your kids. I'm not trying to doubt your knowledge, but on the ship if someone were to find out my name and room number, who is going to provide them with information and of what nature?

If you read my first post that's pretty much exactly what I said isn't it really.

No you can't pick up without being authorised, but you give me a name and a room number I have to tell you if they're in there or not.
Guest services will tell you if they're onboard or not. Again, not that anyone can really do anything (if you are off you have to have your kttwc so they're not gonna get in your room).

So, like my original posts said, they're not gonna get any far but if someone did want to creep (and believe me, I've met some pretty dodgy characters almost every cruise), they're gonna get a further with your name and room number than without.

No, really you did not, bc I asked WHO is giving them the info. I got the impression you worked at the kids clubs. So someone can go to the kids clubs CMs and ask them if we are on the ship. Seems shady; I'm surprised to hear a kids club CM would give out that info. Or if my kid is in the club. You never mentioned what info Guest Services would supply; that was my question, now I know.

Dont think I mentioned guest services, because I have no idea but it would probably be the same general idea.
Yes the kids clubs can see who and how many are on and off the ship.
Its not like they're giving away your family history: are they on the ship the answer is yes or no, I cant tell them exactly where they are if they are or not. Is a kid in the kids club, yes or no, if they're not authorised to pick up a kids thats in care they're not coming in, if they try to leave with a kids thats not authorised, not happening.
For 99.9% of the time its actually helpful (it might be family that are travelling together, the program doesn't show me that, or maybe you made friends with the people in the cabin next door), its not shady until someone makes it shady.

I always put pictures on my door. We frame a small picture of our kids from each cruise and this is our door decoration.
People always stop by and look. Our first cruise was 2004 and have cruised every year since.
It's fun to see the kids grow up.

Hi all! I have a newbie cruiser question -- we'll be cruising with a large group of grandparents, parents, and grandkids. I was thinking of making Mickey-head door magnets out of glitter cardstock and having a round photo opening in each where I can put a picture of each of the people in the cabin -- so both the bigger kids/adults and the non-readers can easily see which cabin has which grandparents and which siblings. All of the pictures I've seen of other peoples' doors, though, just have names and sometimes Disney characters. Is there a rule against using real life photos, or some other reason I should avoid doing that?

Thanks in advance :)
I wouldn't put up any pictures or personal info on the cabin door.

I haven't bothered reading the other posts, but why not put real photos on your cabin doors? Don't live your life in fear.
