Day 2- Friday Nov 8- It's early entry at AK- so I wake up at 6:30 am and try to get everyone up & moving. Shower, feed Dh & Dd ( I brought my own coffee maker & cooler with stuff for breakfast & snacks 'cuz Mudducks don't eat big in morn.)
Get them over to AK- and run thru the attack plan with DH- Dd & I will walk over and line up for Safari ride - while DH goes to get fast pass at Dinosaur.
On the way Dd & I see ALL the characters waiting to greet us, so we get, Goofy, Mickey, Daisy Duck, Minnie pictures & autographs and continue you on...
DH radio's me on walkie talkie- "problem USA land is closed, and I forgot the video camera!"- Okay,I'm thinking ,no problem go back to car get camera and met us over there. But my heart starts racing- Oh no, the plan has be ruined, the line is going from 10min wait to 16min. do I get in line, do I wait outside, okay get in line, where is he..is he in the park even....(hold on chill out, you're on vacation!) he mets up with us of course we enjoy the kilomanjo(?) Safari ride. I was truely amazed as I walk through "Africa"- I have been in towns in South Africa that looked excatly like that is in WDW "Africa"- even down to the peeling/worn out paint on signs and wall. Got to love WDw details even down to the smallest thing.
After the ride we head over to ride Dinoasur- DH went ahead to line up . dd Ran into Tigger and found out - Pooh, Pigglet & Eeorye had no line up to see them down the path....More pics & sigs and off we run- "Where are you guys?" comes over my CB- I'm at the front of the line. But how fast can you run with a 7yr, just as we get there with DH standing in the fast pass line in the front (4 groups had to go in front of him) the ride breaks down! 20 minutes waiting for them to get it working.
I was warned it was scary, I was really concerned about Dd, she's not into scarry stuff, loves dinosaurs but not loud, dark stuff.
Light up a glow stick for her, thought it would help. But I found out that it was the SCARIEST ride I"VE ever been on, and wouldn't be doing that again:eek:
Did all the shows- Taran Rocks! (cool), Lion King ( awesome) Dd loved Ponachontas show- those amazing animals
Parade was great-
I loved Animal Kingdom, but didn't see it all ( about 3:00pm I reliezed that my" usual high enery- type A personalitly husband & daughter had been kidnap by aliens, and I was with two strangers saying "slow down...we don't have to do everything...we are suppose to be relaxing"
And I had plans for Dd at "neverland club" that night, so Dh & I could check out Epcot Food Festival or DTD. After some persuding we went to our hotel after parade, & I took Dd for swim ( I never swim!) but I thought that would give dh a power nap and then he would feel like going out. Dh went to Neveland Club (at POLY) at 7:00 which she LOVED...Dh & I went to Ecpot, rode Fast- Track as single riders got on in 5min and not 40min if together. I was amazing at night!- but by this time Dh is very grumpy, sleeply and hungery (a couple more and I could have been Snow White with the seven dwarfs).Didn't get him any food at Ecpot because of the crowds & then fireworks, got lost and exited at the BW exit-( I always wanted to see what they looked like) so we took a cab back to Poly eat there & went to hotel, knowning that I should changes some of the other"plans" I had.

I hear you about feeling like Snow White - but you are having fun - thanks for posting!

The safari is one of my favorite rides! Sounds like a wonderful time everyone was having! Thanks for sharing.

Animal Kingdom is very cool, great atmosphere! The Lion King show is so high energy! :)

I'm glad your DD enjoyed the Neverland club and that you and DH had some time on your own. I've never ridden TestTrack at night, sounds like fun, I'll have to try it.

A very busy day for you!

Thank you for posting. :)

Oh I love Legends of the Lion King at AK! 'Circle of LIfe' gets me all the time! Thanks for the report! S

Thanks for your AK description. I feel more informed now. Many of the Guide books say you can get through it in a day and I've been wondering about that as I know my kids don't get through a normal zoo or children's museum in 1 day. We are all so fascinated by everything. Also this park will be 1 of our big learning opportunities too (they're missing 1 week of school).

So I won't be taking my 5 year old on Dinosaur no matter how into Dinosaurs she currently is. What do you think about a 9 year old DD who is more sensitive to sounds (i.e. doesn't like the loud noises of fireworks). Too scarey for her too?

Hi, I am 3? years old and Dinosaur scares me LOL! My dd was 7 on it, it scared her, but she's been on it since (at 8 years old too) and she is okay. But it is scary. S

It is scarey...Lauren almost 8 truly loves dinosaurs, but like your 9 yr old is also sensitive to loud noise, so I took ear plugs which she used alot, she even used them on this ride, but the whole time she was burried in my arm. (glow stick & ears plug and all). It's more that you are in the dark hearing noises, being bumped all over the place,, waiting for something to jump out and eat you!
The Moblie (?) Land of Energy ride at Epcot is better for little ones to see dinosuars without the fear factor. If you took then there they would never feel they missed out on Dino.-
Also is Ak there is an Dino dig play area - leave time for that.
Have a great trip!

Thanks for replies. I hadn't remembered/realized that dinosaurs are on that Energy ride. Thank you! With that and the dino playground area we'll be avoiding disappointed feelings with the younger ones just fine!

Now if only we could make the ride look scarier on our Disney Magical Racing Tour software they love to play! LOL!
