'Real' conversations with CM's

When one of my sons was little he got to see the Power Rangers at DHS. They came out in their PR Car and started to form little lines for photos with the kids. When my son got his turn to see his favorite, the Red Ranger, he stood in front of him and did his best pose as I waited with my camera. Well...his best pose looked really cool (total Power Ranger, really flamboyant), except for the fact that he was holding up only one finger. The only finger that shouldn't be flying solo.

The Ranger just stopped mid pose, put his arms up as if to say "Stop the cameras" and leaned over and raised my son's pointer finger as well to form the peace sign. Then he looked at the crowd and gave a big thumbs up that he was now ready to have his picture taken with my clueless son. It was hilarious, we thought the ranger was going to crack up because the crowd was in stitches when they saw what my little guy was doing as his pose.

I'll have to go and look for that photo now...maybe post it. :goodvibes

:rotfl: I'd love to see that picture.

This past trip in January at the Haunted Mansion....in that first room (before the stretching room) my 9 year old DS lost part of his 'lego guy'. He always looks forward to going to the Lego store at DTD and saves up his allowance to spend it there. Well, he had the lego guy in his hand and the helmet fell on the floor and he burst into tears. First the guy came over and said, 'It's okay, it's not that scary' which made us both laugh (He is 9 but he is 5'3" and looks much older). But then, three of the CM's came out with flashlights and found the tiny lego piece (and I mean tiny). It made my son's day!

Besides "Hey Tinkerbell, how's Edward doing" I can't make out what she's saying...can someone fill me in?

She is explaining how "edward" is not a fairy but that Tinkerbell will understand.

It is a really weird thing for her to be saying to such little kids.

Ayears ago I was at DHS & stood in line to have my picture made with Cruella. She was definitely in character with her comments to guests before me and with me. Cruella said something along line of are you worthy to take your picture with me;why do you deserve a picture with me. I told her that I wanted my picture with the meanest woman since I worked for a black widow b--- & I wanted my picture with someone equal to my boss.....Cruella totally broke character....in a regular voice she was like you can't say that ....this is the happiest place on earth. Her handler was cracking up.

A few years ago we were in line to see Rafiki in Town Square. The girl ahead of us was about 6 years old and was posing for a picture with him. After the picture, she swung around to give him a hug goodbye. In doing so, her elbow flared out and caught him right in the, um, primate private parts. He gave the hug, and waved goodbye, but them turned around a leaned one hand on the wall behind him and hung his head for a few moments to recuperate.

I guess posing for pictures and giving autograph's is a contact sport now:confused3 maybe Disney should start making guys wear cups to work now:rotfl2:

I have 3 the first two are from our first trip over X-mas in 92.

We stayed at the Beach Club our first trip and went swimming every night. We went to the towel stand like we did every night but my sister had on a Bloomsday t-shirt and the girl handing out towels was on the phone and looked at my sister's shirt and said "are you from Spokane"?:confused3 We said yes and she picked the phone back up and said "Mom the people in front of me are from Spokane" the girl was from Spokane and was talking to her mom in Spokane on the phone.

The second one on that trip happened at Typoon Lagoon. On our last day my sis and I went to Typhoon Lagoon while our parents packed. We were floating on the lazy river when when had not one but 2 different lafeguards at 2 different times tell us we were "Nuts". It was only about 70 degrees that day so it was a little cool but not cold to us. The lifeguards were wraped in anything the could find including layers of towels:rotfl2:. When we told them we were from WA State they said they understand because WA State was on the National News because we were being hit by a blizzard.:rolleyes1

The third one happened at Hollywood Studios. I was on the back street by the NY skyline looking at the X-mas lights with my sis and bil when three older security guards(2 men 1 woman) stopped next to us. We started talking and they were really nice but I just had to ask. I asked them what they would really do if me (6'1 230lbs) or my bil (about the same) took something or did something wrong.:confused3 The 2 men almost in unison said "nothing but call on our radio" then both of them and the woman just started laughing and so did we. We had just noticed a lot of the security that trip could be described at senior citizens and were wondering what they would do:rolleyes1

We were riding the monorail a few trips ago and a young man struck up a conversation with us. He strongly urged us to come visit his "good friend, Goofy" at the Judge's Tent later that afternoon. He didn't come right out and say it would be him, but it was enough for us grownups to know. Unfortunately, our ADRs were taking us to another park and we didn't make it back.

And on our last visit, when my son was 7 months old, we happened across the Fairy Godmother ticked in an out-of-the-way corner near the castle when we were on our way into MK early one morning. I was shocked that the Fairy Godmother actually took him and held him. I have never seen any other cast members hold a baby and actually figured it was probably against the rules. It was so sweet, though. You could tell she was a grandmother and loved kids!

Not really breaking character, but a few years ago there was a young man working at Space Mountain. My son has Down Syndrome and used a wheelchair at the parks. For a few days in a row, this young man was working the wheelchair line and DS got to "playing" with him while waiting and really took a liking to him. On the third day (yes - we have to ride every day), DS wanted the CM to go on the ride with him. He went and got permission to leave his post then did just that.

This made me tear up a little bit :goodvibes

Oh, this just made me remember, I have a video of Pooh really freaking out in Disneyland Plaza Inn Breakfast. He was dancing provacatively, etc. completely not in Pooh character. I'll try to upload it to share, although it doesn't really fit the "real conversations with CM" theme of this thread!

When we were watching the parade at MNSSHP in 2008 we were in the front row right where the parade began. My dh was wearing a t-shirt that he had bought earlier in the trip that said, "I'm surrounded by idiots" on the front and had Scar on the back. One of the dancers in the parade came up and told him that he LOVED his shirt and asked where he got it so that he could get one himself. It was awesome! That is still one of my dh favorite shirts.

Oh another -- My DH picked up a Chinese-style Minnie shirt at the Disney Store at the Hong Kong airport (being there on business and forbidden to go to HKD without us) and the CMs at the Chinese pavilion in Epcot just loved it, as did the other Chinese CMs were encountered around the parks.

And I was finally able to have the Chinese script on the shirt translated!

Love Tigger! Back in '93 our family was at the character breakfast at the Contemporary and Tigger was in rare form. He kept trying to bounce on his tail only to fall on the floor every time. As he was signing our DD's book we asked him if he had an opinion regarding "It's a Small World" and he wrote(in my DD's book), "You mean the House of Chucky dolls?" LOL! We still have the book and my DD's 24 now! LOVE Tigger! :thumbsup2

My DH calls it that too :rotfl2:

Not that he was a character, but it was a slow night when we dined at Boatwright's in POR once; and our server felt the need to let us know just how much he hated his job, the high cost of living in Orlando, his long drive to work, the heavy traffic, etc., etc. Whew!

I find more and more of them do that these days - I think it is just more about stress and less about being real with guests.

so do tell.. what did it say????
