ready to do some shirts ..have several ??'s

Even though its a year off...I've gotta pass that time somehow!! So for our next Disney cruise, i'm getting ready to make some magnetic signs and attempt to do some shirts, so i've got some questions ,if some of you don't mind taking the time to answer them.

1) I read somewhere that the dark transfers were best, even if you used a white shirt? Is this so? Do you still reverse the image for those?

2) If I do need to use the dark transfers and use them on a light/white shirt, do I need to cut out around the design?

3) The names that are being made with pics in the lettering, how do you do those? I have a bunch of people I would like to make these for and have no idea how to do so.

4) Also, when adding text to an image, how do you "form" the text around the image, such as around a circle or oval?

What I did was ask ever so nicely in a new thread on what I was looking for, I dug thru EVERY thread on the boards for soooooo long if you find an image you want, just right click on it, and you're set. Some of them aren't big enough, but I'm not sure how to fix that. I've used the light and the dark transfers, and I like the dark best. I've cut around each of them, so only the color shows thru. I posted a thank you thread that has a link to my photobucket with pics if you wanna see them. I bought the trasnfers from wal mart, and they were about 7-10$ a package. The dark I didn't have to mirror the image, I just followed the directions and poof, I have 7 shirts hanging up!! it was fun, and we have our day in 19 days, I can't wait!!! Have fun, it can be addicting!!

Are you also designing some of your own? You asked how to do the designs with the pics inside the letters for names... which program are you using? If we know it will be easier to answer that question- I can do those in Adobe PhotoShop CS3- others use other programs and can assist with directions for those programs- Also, the text around an image such as circle or oval- again which program are you using?

thanks for the link! i bookmarked it for further reference.

and to answer the op question....now i am using a trial version of paint shop pro and trying to get them all done and saved before that runs out. otherwise i just have regular powerpoint, paint and print artist.

a shameless bump..I would still like to know how to do the words and how to form the text around/in shapes, i.e circles and ovals.
