Wow!! I am stunned by all of the financial advice!! I think I was asking for DVC advice.... and some feedback on resorts etc.. not if it was a good decision for us to buy in.

Your post ended with "thanks any other thoughts are welcomed." Thus the any other thoughts.

Also, to the rude poster who suggested my post was just to get a rise, I assure you that is not true. I simply offered my advice, harsh as it seemed, nothing more.

Only you can decide what is best for your family. These comments and suggestions are just a way to sift through the information on the way to that decision.

You gotta love the people who get offended when advice or suggestions go contrary to how they do things or view things.

Glad to see you are not one of those flamers.

Let us know what you decide and how you make it.

As you have probably noticed, there tends to be a consensus on these boards that you should be able to pay for DVC in full up front...if you have to finance, then you shouldn't purchase. (Though, of course, there are plenty here who have financed.)

I must have missed that one.

Everytime I've posted pay cash I've been flamed. Seems the consensus is "if you can afford the payments, go for it." or "DVC is a god given right, buy now." "Live for today." etc. etc. etc.

I've taken enough flames for a while. Go ahead run yourself into bankruptcy do what you want folks. Dumbo71 is a crazy, broke fool not the self made wealthy guy, he doesn't know what he is talking about anyway. DVC offfers finacing and doesn't list it on your credit report so it must be OK. :rolleyes1

actually dumbo71 I found your advice very helpful. we are toying around with the idea of DVC since we go to to WDW at least 3 times a year (we live 3 hours south of wdw) but we don't want to rush right in without considering what DVC ownership would entail. thanks for your helpful insight :)

Anytime.

A variety of advice is always helpful when making a decision. It wouldn't help much if all you got was buy now and finance through DVC.

Good luck with the decision.

Buy new at SSR or purchase resale? My sister is a real estate agent could she help with closing costs and such? Should we wait until after the new year to save MF? We will plan our first trip in May and then again in December of 07. What does it mean to purchase at SSR? We can go elsewhere, just for different points value? As you can see, I am in need of some help here :rolleyes1
