Ready, Set Shop!

I've never really been a big shopper at Disney... more a casual browser, mostly for souvies. But I want to hear from you power shoppers... you know who you are. hand permanently clenched in a credit-card holding position... significant other quite used to sitting on a park bench people watching... on a first name basis with the person at your resort from whom you pick up the delivered packages... able to tell a fellow-traveller exactly where to find that elusive, extra-large Figment sweater for their grandma…

Which shops are your favorites? Where do you think the most original items are found... whether souveniers or trinkets from around the world?

Stand up, say it proud: My name is (your name here), and I'm a shop-a-holic!

Although I must say that I seem to spend less and less every year, we do always get a framed print/cell from the Art of Disney store (I think that's what it's called). I also love the Christmas shop and could drop a small fortune!!!!

Oh yeah.... DH gets a new pair of Oakley's every year we go down too.... normally from the MGM store (don't recall the name)

I usually pick out everything I want and make a mental note. Then I go to DTD and see if I can find the stuff at WOD, where I can get a DC discount (or AP discount) and have it all shipped home in one fell swoop. If I can't find something at WOD, I go to the place where I first saw it (or about 10,000 places till I find it again) and buy it. Then I carry it close to my heart all day. I also go crazy at the outlets, while poor DH people watches or just follows me around the store. I try to limit my outlet shopping to only the Disney and toy stores, but DD1 is coming with us this time, so I think she will work on DH!

Where you shop depends on which character you like. There are usually gift shops outside of most rides, with merch geared towards the related characters. There is Snow White & dwarf merch outside the Snow White ride, etc. Certain stuff is not available in DTD, like HM stuff, and a lot of the Villian stuff (have to go to the Villians shop in MGM for that). Love the special section in WOD with the collectible stuff!

I think the firehouse at MK has a lot of original stuff. It is the only place on grounds you can buy a tshirt with mickey and the fireman...and a lot of other stuff with that theme. You can get the pin other places, but we looked for the shirt, and that is the one and only place (asked around a lot too). The poster is also available elsewhere.

I am a horrible shop-a-holic at Disney! I always buy a snowglobe. I have one from every visit to WDW. I also always buy a new book bag type thing to use while there. And I always spend WAY too much money! I usually need another suitcase on the way home just for the stuff I've bought!

I even have a system to look through the Outlet Malls for Disney Stuff...

I do the walls of the store first, then the tables and then the counter...Then a quick trip back around the store to see if I missed something...

Drives my DH crazy...

I love waiting till the World of Disney at DTD to do park shopping. As you can see from the Icon in my post...DH LOVES the store at Star Tours. He costs me a bloody fortune every visit.
