Reading Thread/Goals for 2025

Good luck with "Atmosphere". I'm almost done with it, and still wrestling with whether I like it or not. "Beach Read" sounds like something I need sometime-now to see if my library has it.
Well I finished it last night. I kept having to remind myself that these were adults and not teenagers. Especially Joan. Not in my top 5 of the year. Probably one of my least favorites, actually.

Someone pick my next read from the list.

Remarkably Bright Creatures was probably my favorite on the list.

47/50. “This Dog Will Change Your Life “ by Elias Weiss Friedman. The book was recommended in AARP magazine, and because we are thinking it is soon time for us to look at rescuing a dog, I figured it was a good book for me. I am not familiar with “the Dogist” but the author makes his living meeting and photographing people with their dogs and posting on the internet in many locations.
I liked the book and it delivered many teary and happy moments! The bad realities of unwanted surplus animals, kill shelters and dogs as food in certain cultures could have been left out or dealt with otherwise. 4.5/5

13. The Griffin Sisters’ Greatest Hits by Jennifer Weiner. A story about sisters in a band and what happens. It was really good. I enjoy this author’s work.

Thanks for the review. Not sure I can read it without a broken heart.

I really liked the Kite Runner. :)

#30 - Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid
An epic new novel set against the backdrop of the 1980s Space Shuttle program about the extraordinary lengths we go to live and love beyond our limits.

This book was just ok to me. Didn’t quite get the hype.

#31 - Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby van Pelt In Remarkably Bright Creatures, Tova finds comfort working nights at an aquarium-where she meets Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus with a mind of his own.

This might be my favorite stand alone book this year (even though I figured out how it would end.) LOVED IT! The characters were so well done. And Marcellus ❤️

16/25 The Lies in the Falls, A Sweetwater Falls Mystery #6. Elle Gray

17/25 Forbidden in the Falls, A Sweetwater Falls Mystery #7. Elle Gray

18/25 Silenced in the Falls, A Sweetwater Falls Mystery #7. Elle Gray

#26 - Eventide by Kent Haruf
Genre - Literary Fiction
This is the 2nd book in the Plainsong series. It's about ordinary people living ordinary lives. Enjoyed reading it. I'm going to read the 3rd and final book, Benediction.

48/50 “If You Can Get it,” by Brendan Hodge. “..Explores the quirks and the humanity of the twenty-first-century business world but finds it’d heart in the deepening relationship of two sisters as different as Elinor and Marianne of “ Sense and Sensibility”.”
4/5
