Amanda -- It would all depend on what the lease says. The lease is a contract, and breaching a contract carries consequences. Sometimes, the lease will spell out the damages for which you would be responsible if you breach, but not always. If it doesn't, reference would need to be made to your state's landlord/tenant law.

Yeah, I've been there once, for a conference. Very pretty place, and very relaxing. Never made it out to the golf course, but I heard it was nice. Did you get a lot of rain up there too? Or did it miss you?

DH played in a golf tourny there on Friday and Saturday...so that got that in without a problem. Sunday was our day to explore & go horseback riding and tour the ruins and gardens....and unfortunately we got rained out.

Amy if you google it, I might have spelled it wrong. Hope your little guy is feeling better!!!!!!!!

Amanda - what Chappie said. Why not try to negotiate a 9 month lease at the outset with month-to-month to follow that? You're asking this in advance, right? I thought you were still living with the friend, and you just want out of that place into your own place? Try to negotiate a shorter contract at the outset!

Yes, that is what we were thinking would be good. I just hope we find someone willing to do that. I'm thinking we might run into a problem with that, a lot of the places for rent around here are new construction. Builders got greedy and went hogwild with the turnkey homes. Now they have no one to turn the key. heh. So, they're renting them out.
