Reading for Free Books

Thanks for the info.

There is a program here that allows the children to fill out an entry for each book read, to win a bike. My boys are really excited about it.

Here is a list that I just got.

Grades 1 and 2:
Abuela (spanish edition)
Amelia Earhart: More than a Flier
Dinosaur Days
Frida (Spanish edition)
The Meanest Thing to Say
Mouse Soup
Play it Safe
Sammy the Seal
Teddy Roosevelt: The People's President
Wild, Wild Wolves

Grades 3 and 4:
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Eleven
I, Freddy
Leon and the Spitting Image
Nate the Great
Ready, Freddy: Tooth Trouble
Solar System
Solo Sailing
Utterly Me, Clarice Bean

Grades 5 and 6:
The Fledgling
Olive's Ocean
Rodzina
Sammy Keyes and the Art of Deception
The Tiger's Apprentice
Warriors: Into the Wild

Well, bummer. See that is the problem we had a couple of years ago. I am not familiar with the books on the 5th and 6th grade list, but I am betting they are not books I will be too thrilled with. I wish they had a better selection of some higher level books. I certainly know that I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but if they are trying to encourage kids to read, you would think they would include some classics in their choices.

Oh well.

I have the opposite problem my DD is just completing 6th grade; going into 7th, so she is too old :(
