Read that Mama Melrose in MGM is Going to Change ????

Hmmm. This is one restaurant we no longer patronize, even with Fantasmic package.

Hi,
Can you tell me what the limited menu is like? Is it different then the one on allearsnet? That kinda bums me out because we were looking forward to eating there when we go this year.
thanks!

The dinner menu posted is what I thought we were getting but in actuality we were given a piece of paper that had a couple of apps, 3 or 4 dinner choices and a couple of dessert. I chose this restaurant because of the menu posted on allears but that isnt what it was when we got there.

We have a 6:10 ressie there in early June with the Fantasmic dinner package.

That's good to know. I might have to try back and see if we can get a later time now.

We did mama melrose Fantasmic pkg and the only bonus here was having the fantasmic pkg. The only thing my daughter and I liked were the desserts. The service was terrible, we were rushed and I was disappointed. I had been a few months earlier and it wasn't like that at all:( We might do Hollywood & Vine for the fantasmic pkg...would really like to do brown derby, I just got to figure out which on the meals that I have planned would be the cheapest to pay oop for.

When did you go? The last time we went, we were able to order anything off the menu. The only thing fixed was the family style salad and the one flatbread per table.

We did Mama Melrose but will probably not do it again for awhile. For my family (me, DH, DD14 and DD11) it was just WAY too much food. We took home 2 full meals!! With the salad and the flatbread and the desserts, my girls barely touched their meal. We ended up not eating the leftovers because it sat out all night in our ice bucket and didn't look very appetizing the next day. So we felt bad about the waste. We really liked the food and thought it was good (chicken parmesan and DH had pork i think). I would go back to MM again, just not with the Fantasmic Package so that we can order a more reasonable amount of food for our family.

So, this time we are doing Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic package. I figure this way we just eat what we want and how much we want and don't worry about waste. Plus, we still get the Fantasmic seat tickets.

MM is our fav rest. We go every time we are at MGM. We enjoy sitting and getting served. They have a wonderful salad and great soup!

I've booked the Fantasmic dinner package for MM on August 10th at 5pm.
Hope the menu will be fairly broad - my friend is fairly fussy and this is one of our "special treat" meals - i.e. costing three times as much as anywhere else we intend to eat on our trip.

I read in the 2006 Birnbaum WDW Book, under the Mama Melrose Description, it mentions that MM's "will be undergoing change in the future".....No more details, Just Curious ??
I didn't want to make our ADR's for Fantasmic Dinner Package there and have it close or something.......Will wait it out and see :smooth:
Is the Atmosphere Nice at MM's ???? :snail:

I read in the Birnbaum 2006 Dining Guide that "This restaurant may be rethemed and renamed in 2006" which sounds like a pretty big change and probably a new menu. It's already 2006 and it hasn't happened, but I would love more info if anyone knows anything!

I also read that in the Birnbaum book. I have found PLENTY of inaccuracies in that publication before, but the possibility of some kind of remodel combined with the limited menu was enough for me to NOT make an ADR for August. I can just see getting a call 2 weeks before the trip that they are closing MM and having to scramble for some other ADR. We're eating at 50's and taking our chances with Fantasmic seating.

We did the Fantasmic package at H&V in October and it was great! Of course DH is a HUGE buffet fan (which is why I haven't read the big buffet threads :crazy2: ) and he pouts if he has to order from a menu.

I do prefer a sit down meal over a buffet.....
Might play it safe and book H & V just in case.
We did Brown Derby last trip and didn't want to use 2 TS Credits....
We'll have to wait & see I guess.....

You can choose any entree and dessert on the menu that you like. The limitations are placed at the appetizer/salad area. You get a large "family size" salad and a small pizza to share. So, for evey 4 people you would get a family size salad and pizza, and each individual can choose any entree and dessert listed on the menu.

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes

That would be disappointing. I know I looked at the menu on allears and found lots of good choices. Hopefully I will find something I like with the limited menu. If not, I guess I can order off the kids menu- j/k ;)

Has anyone gotten a 5:30 or 6:00 ADR time with the FP at MM? We have regular 6 PM ressies there in April because when I called they had 4 and 4:30 times only. That's too early for us.

We are going the last week of April and were able to get a 5:40 ressie w/fp for MM...

We have an ADR for Sunday, April 9th at 5:50pm... I am guessing we will have a little time between dinner and maybe time for an attraction or two before we go to the secret passage way....

We have 6:00 PM ADR's for FDP on April 19, but called exactly 180 days out. Keep calling back they may add more times(at 30 day mark) or there could be cancelations.

Noooooo! Please don't change. This was one of our family's favorite meals. The flatbreads were excellent, as well as the Osso Buco and Fra Diavolo.
