On 11/30, I put down a deposit for 270 points at $97/point for a total of $26,190. In reading a thread on here, I saw someone mention locking into a particular offer and then doing a re-write if the following deal was better prior to close.
Sure enough, tonight's deal was much better. 270 points is now $92/point for a total of $24,840. At the 320 point level, it's just $90/point. I guess what has intrigued me is the idea of moving up to the next level because my previous commitment was $26,190. I could get another 60 points (buying 330 to break into even increments with 3 kids involved), and then really only pay $58.50/point for the increase.
There's no way we'd use them all as early on, one BR standard views will require us to only use 200/year at the most with the intention of renting out the remainder of our points. Once the kids are older, then we'd move up to a 2BR. I guess if I were to rent out 120 points/for the first 5-6 years, that would certainly cover most of my dues.
