tonight Tony's was taking a ton of walkups. We had ADRs for 7:20pm, which was all I could book. (I have checked back several times a week since the beginning of July.) We stopped by at 5:30pm and asked if we could possibly get in earlier, so we could meet some friends for Spectro.
They got us in by 5:50pm, and said they were taking all walkups until 6:00pm. They told several people that was their cutoff time. We've also seen this happen at Cape May in the past.
While I personally would never show up at a restaurant without an ADR, there still might be hope for others who like to wing it. Good luck!
