My brother is going to purpose to his girlfriend when visiting the park and wants to do something special. her favorite ride is pirates. So i don't have a clue what there is to choose from, if anything. has anyone here purposed at disneyland, if so where, what was it like?

Dinner at Blue Bayou and he proposes there?? What a great thought.....I wouldn't recommend he propose on the ride, that might cause some major commotion! LOL

I was going to say the same thing!

If he is proposing with a ring, and if it's ANY sort of a surprise, if he's proposing on the Pirates ride, tie a string to the ring, just in case. :) And don't propose near any of the Jack Sparrow animatronics...they could distract his girlfriend at a crucial moment. :lmao:

But I would vote for Blue Bayou, since it's pretty much "inside" the start of the ride. He should call Disney Dining 60 days out, make Priority Seating arrangements (reservations to non-Disney people, LOL), tell them he's going to propose...and go from there. It's a pretty penny, but then, so are weddings. :upsidedow

I would go with the blue bayou. Call and make a reservation and get seating right beside the water! maybe even ask them if there is anything special they can do with his plans?

 How cute!! My nephew did that 2 years ago, and called the hotel first to arrange everything-he had the hotel make a glass slipper made of ice and put sorbet in it then placed the ring on top. Maybe your brother could get one of those small treasure chest and put pirate: the ring in it?! If he is staying there the hotels will really accommodate! He had booked a regular room and they upgraded him for free to a big suite:thumbsup2 Nice surprise for the both of them! Ok, well good luck to your brother!

I know they sell those little mini bags of "treasures" (little fake gems/rubies for kids) in certain shops (i'm pretty sure the shop outside of Pirates has them, as well as some others...but those might be more "princess/girl geared".

Super crappy pic, but similar to this:

It would be super cute if he bought a bag of those little gems and put the real ring inside and gave her the bag (at dinner at the Blue Bayou or somewhere else special....maybe in front of the castle).

:)

what I did last summer was I went to those cartoon sketch artiest. They made a drawing of my proposing to my GF, then she told my GF to take a look at it while i got on one knee. It was the best moment of my life.. :goodvibes

I agree that Blue Bayou would be the best place if she is a Pirates fan. Tell him to call and make a priority seating and make sure to check in early to get a table by the water. Then just talk to the waitstaff and have them put the ring in the dessert or have a little treasure chest arranged and have them bring that out.
Another thought; my husband proposed to me in the elevator of Club 33 while we were on the Walk in Walts Footsteps tour and since the tour guide was already set up to take a picture of us I have pictures of the whole thing. Our guide even arranged for us to have a special congratulations dessert when we got to lunch at the end of the tour.
