Re-releasing RANT

I don't get why VMK re-releases stuff! It just makes the rarity go down by a lot, and makes lots of people mad because not that long ago i traded a lot for a pan hat, tiki stuff etc. Does anyone else think re-releasing is a bad idea, or that they should re-release items in a different style/color/etc.?

I think its fine to re-release stuff. There are always going to be new people joining VMK who will not have it, or those who could not afford to buy it when it came out. So after some time they will most likely become rare again. Its just all part of the game to me !

I think its a great idea to ocassionally re release. It gives new people and others who missed something a fair chance at things. I think the prices of certain items are getting out of hand and this puts a check on the economy so to speak of VMK values. Even in real people have to have a stop to inflation. lol (Ok thats the accountant side of me coming out. )

I think re-releasing things every couple of years is good. There are a lot of people that may have bought them that are no longer playing. Some of those accounts have probably been deleted too. Making them more rare. There are some people out there that do want these things that can't otherwise get them.

It has been since november '05 since these hats were out. Now as for the tiki stuff, . I have gobs of it all from just doing host quests. The only things I need are pink tiki and more beige rugs.

My first rare was the In-Game Pirate Quest Hat. I got about three of those, and I was able to trade two for bigger and greater things.

A lot of my rare is due to those trades. The Hat was rare, not only because it was released more than a year ago, but because that quest was hard.

Imagine my surprise when they rereleased the Pirate Hat in a de-rarified state, through the Treasure Chests of Pirates.

But I wasn't bitter. Not in the least: everyone deserves to have every item. It's a GAME where folks go on to live in the park, getting items that they want dearly.

Give the newer players a chance, and rerelease items.

I agree that it's sorta sad to see that the Pan Hat is out again when we thought it was going to be a "rare" item

But we also have to think about those who just joined the game and don't have certain things that other do.

So I would have to say I have mixed emotions about this.

Its ok with me that they re-release. I have a pan hat in my inferno offer that is now not worth anything so i will take it out. But, on the other hand, i am glad that those who really wanted one will get one.

After playing vmk for a year i have found that if you wait long enough you eventually get the opportunity to get most items. So be patient and you won't even have to trade for it. Even inferno was given out a few months ago to a few people. About the only items you would have to trade for would be the in-park quest items (and Stitch) if you can't get to the park. Everything else seems to get re-released eventually.

I for one am ABSOLUTELY THRILLED about VMK re-releasing certain items. For this month, the Tiki room and the Pan hat, are welcome additions for me.
I do not live close to a park at all, to obtain in-park quests items. I am also a fairly new player to vmk, therefore I do not have a lot of "rare" items. So normal trading pretty much doesn't happen for me. The only way I am able to obtain "rare" items, or try and complete my pin collection, is through "buying" them from other players that either need buyables, or credits through Kiosk. Even then, some players are asking unheard of prices for their items, or only want to trade items for items and do not accept credits, and then again we new players still can't purchase the "rare".
Do I get a little sad when I see the VMK 2nd Birthday pin being sold for two days, instead of for just the Birthday only, of course!!
But, like others have said, this is part of the game I guess, and the items will be rare once again some day.

I think it is great to have a re-release of items, by making them less rare it may cut out some of the desperation that some people have that drive them to do scams!!!
half of the post on this board are about a scam involving a rare item.!!
i know many enjoy the status of rare items, and i truly do not wish to step on any toes. but when you can only get the rare items by doing multiple trade windows it opens up MORE scamming!!!
okay, i am off my soapbox!! ( by the way , they are not rare, for sale in neds!!)

I am glad about it. Several reasons really.

• I am tired of the people who want me to give them my first-born for a non-buyable VIRTUAL item.
• This will help cut down on scamming.
• I could care less about flaunting my Dooney & Bourke purse, Tommy Hilfiger shirt and Rolex watch. They are virtual items and I like that people can get what they want to express themselves without acting like they own or needing to have an oil-rig.
• People who have joined since the last release can have items they like.

Well, I think it REALLY depends on what it is...

The re-released of the Tiki Room does NOTHING to trading, it does not "hurt" more senior players, and it benefits new players (due to the inability to trade rooms). So I think this is a GREAT re-release item.

As for things like the Pan Hat - I have to say that I think many of us had to see this coming. I know that I have been offering my remaining Pan Hat's in just about every applicable trade for the last week and a half. They put PeterPan in the dictionary - Clue 1 for me.

I think that this re-release was a bit uncool for more serious players and yet, it is an item that did not bring in GIANT size trades (as opposed to a Minnie hat) so it's a medium blow, not a giant one.

Now.... My thoughts on Tiki Month? sigh I wish we could have a new theme instead of one that many many current players were around for, but as I have said to others many times, it's a free game. So.... I guess we get tiki again. Oh well, my bank account will be happy.

I don't see why anyone should get upset over it when they are just virtual items. As has been stated it gives those that weren't around before the chance to get them as well. I had a pan hat already myself and don't care if its out again. I had the princess dresses already and could care less that they put it out again. Its better they do this I think. I hope they do it with more things as well. If its done by putting it in the store for us to buy or making us do a quest for the item either way is fine by me. But I don't see the point in getting so upset over it when we all know it can happen and its always your choice to make a trade for things...even if its something that ends up coming out again at some point.

I love when they re-release things because I've only been on VMK for a few months and this way I get a fair chance at items that came out before I joined.

and this is exactly why all items should be re released at some point for some amount.

Roller, I know how you feel I traded SO much for me and Cinnamon's princess clothes. And when VMK started selling the dresses I got angry.. But luckily a few of my good friends here at DIS. Reminded me that even, tho they are for sale now it gives other people a chance to buy them, and when I started VMK what I wanted more than anything was Princess. So I know, it made alot of people happy when they were for sale.

I think the re-release of the items is ok, depending on the item. Lets say the release the princess hat. That takes the rarity own all the way because it is a older hat, and it had value. But when the release the churro cart, its more of a recent item, and many people could have been away on vacations and such that did not get the chance to buy it. So depending on the item, i think its fine.

I agree.
Besides Disney is known for re-releasing items from time to time. It makes more money for them. They don't care if it drops the rarity for the collector.

I think its OK for them to rerelease items. Yes it does stink when you traded SO much for that item. But think about it if you were new to the game would'nt you want it to come back out. Like I am HOPING Bat magic will be released for the 10,000 again some day..

I think they should just change the colors.. I'm sorry but I would've rather had a nice deep purple or green gown or oh my did I hear someone say black.. Oh yes.. That would have been much much better!!

I guess we will be seeing bat magic for Halloween and Snowman for winter.. That part is fine by me!!

Black Gown would be Awesome! I would definetly save my credits for that. That is a great idea.
