I read in the UG that you can reduce your waiting time at Rainforest Cafe by purchasing a Safari Membership. My question is.... how long does the membership last? I am going to WDW in 2 weeks :goodvibes and would like to purchase the Safari membership then for another trip I am taking in April. I would hate to waste the money and the time, maybe standing on line at RFC to purchase the membership while rest of the family stands by tapping their feet impatiently  .
Also, if anyone has purchased this membership, is it worth it? I will be with my 4 year old DGS, 2 year old DGS and 6 month old DGS in April, so anything that could help shorten the wait would be good.
Thanks, Karen :) :)

I don't think it ever expires - we purchased in our Safari Membership in 2004 and we're still using it!

Thanks DisneyMomx7, so do you think it shortens the wait??

1) The membership is for one (1) year.
2) It renews for free, as long as you visit within each 12-months.
3) it is worth is to us, just to get front-of-the-line service.

We used it at DTD this past trip. The wait time was 1 1/2 hours. We stood in the table line for about 15 minutes then were told that with a Safari Card membership you should go right to the Elephant line and you will be seated at the next available table. We got right in...

Wow, thanks :goodvibes . My family will just have to wait while I purchase the club membership. Sounds like it is worth it.

How much is this membership??? We have a Rainforest Cafe a few hours from home and we really like it! What benefits do you get having it??? (Other than front of the line)

When I joined (in '05 I think) It was 15.00, plus they sent you a 10.00 GC that could be used at any Landry's location. Plus with the Safari Club you either get 10% off your meals or a free appitizer. You also get 10 or 15% off at the gift shop and you can use your card at all Landry's restaurants. It is well worth it IMO.

I have had mine for a few years now and I also get a $5 credit when it's my birthday. I also just used mine at the Denver Downtown Aquarium on my way to visit DD at college, I love that card.

One thing to mention also, is that your Safari card is good for food and drink within that 12 month period. So, say you don't feel like eating a meal, and are in danger of losing your membership as it's been almost 12 months, you can purchase a shirt or other retail item, as everytime you use your card, it's scanned into their system to keep track. You can call the Safari Membership number to see when your last visit was, as well as expect special birthday coupons (as mentioned), and regular email promotions too.

Happy eating, Tiger :)

We bought ours at the table from the waitress while we were having dinner. She put the $15.00 on our bill that night. It took about 2 months for the card to come in the mail with the $10.00 gift cert. which by the way, had only a 3 month life on it. I had to make a special trip to Rainforest near our home to use it before it expired. The 10% discount isn't always financially worth it but the free app. is.:thumbsup2

RE: Expiry dates - RFC certificates never expire! You can call the Safari Membership office and get them to send you an email, if you like, but all RFC staff will accept all certificates at any time. It's law in your country and here in Canada that all promos, contests, etc., have an expiry date attached. Just last week, an RFC manager told me they accepted a 3 year old cert. that night for dinner!

Happy eating, Tiger :)

Have had mine for years and years. It is SO worth it ! One time fee.

Even if you never use the certificates:
- We use it for the free appetizer and often someone eats that as their meal.
- We use it for discount in shop, one DS loves their shirts
- Wait time savings is HUGE. Been there where others had to wait close to 2 hours and we were seat in less than 30 minutes.
- Also been able to get the same discounts at any Landry restaurant.

We're not members of the club but we have confirmed reservations for the first week in January. Do you think we'll get in or will we have to wait?

Depends on location, time of day, overall crowd levels, etc...
Tough to know in advance. Confirmed reservations will help things though.

The Safari Club was an absolute no-brainer for us. We have a RFC 45 minutes away from where we live, and we go there an awful lot. In fact, we went this past Saturday. There was a 45 minute wait. Showed them the card - "here you go sir", and had our table within 2 minutes.

The discount is OK. Gives you 10% off your entrees (not the entire bill.) Recently, I got an email offer for a free volcanco. Those are $13 each. We've used it 3 times already.

We love the Safari Club and use it quite often at our RFC. DD3 LOVES going there. One thing's for sure, we'll never have to worry about the membership expiring as often as we use it, not to mention that we go to RFC during our annual visit to WDW.

The $15.00 membership is great for discounts on food and merchandise, as everyone else has stated. The 10% off food or a free appetizer makes it a great deal and will pay for itself quickly. The expedited waiting time in line cuts our wait time from over 2 hours to less than 30 minutes on the busiest of days. :thumbsup2

When you purchase your membership, they'll give you a temporary card. Be VERY patient on the delivery of the permanent card as it takes about 2 months to receive.:scared1:
